It was linked in another thread. Dumbass thing to say but hopefully our sorry arse defense can get up for this game.

Meanwhile CMR said that what we really need is a calming yoga class followed by some high dives.

And this is why I love S. Williams and he will be playing on Sundays. The dude is a true competitor. I hope the slapping quote was directed at Cornelious Washington...playing sooo bad

What will CMR say, when asked the question....."Coach, what do you think about the statements made earlier this week by Shawn Williams.

quote:

1. "Right, Right,........... (rubbing his chin and pulling on his ear)..........well I'm not concerned with that right now lets talk about our game with Fla.

2. "Right, Right,........... (rubbing his chin and pulling on his ear)..........well our players know how we do things at GA, I've talked with Shawn and we understand each other. He knows how I feel on the topic and frankly lets talk about this weeks game against Fla because that's ALL that matters".

3. "Right, Right,........... (rubbing his chin and pulling on his ear)..........well you know what I'm proud of Shawn Williams and trying to step up to that leadership role. I wish he didn't want Sean Payton to take my job but...... (laughing jokingly).......yea we haven't been playing up to our potential and the players know that, it's understandable that they would be getting frustrated........but we had a good week of practice and frankly we're looking forward to playing this game and getting one game closer to the SEC Championship game

One guy on Scout's guess's....

Needed to be said. Basically targeted Robinson who should be getting the other players water on the sidelines

The fact that a player is put into position to have to call out his own teammates speaks volumes about our coaching stiff....i mean staff.

I'm with him. Damn, I'm glad somebody finally said it. Kinda sad it had to be one of the players, but frickin good for him. Maybe that intensity will be contagious and carry over to the field Saturday.

If this is a last resort situation, meaning that SW has pleaded for his teammates to get it together prior to this and can see no other way, then we are in deep trouble.

We aren't suddenly going to "get it together" just because one or two Seniors are mad at lack of effort or whatever. The style you play with is ingrained in you during Spring and Fall practice. You can't remedy that in 1 week just because you really, really want to.

I don't think it's a bad thing at all that Shawn is saying this stuff. I think it'd be bad if everyone on the defense went through interviews like zombies, repeating some lame arse mantra. First step to fixing a problem is recognizing it. Obviously Shawn and some others know what the problem is. So the question becomes what are they going to do to make sure that those guys who aren't "giving it their all" actually go out there in practice and at the game full speed?

This is the leadership we need right now. Early in the season, it's fine to hold hands and say "Oh, so and so is young and learning. And, oh, this guy is doing really good." But we've lost one horrible game to Carolina and barely beat kentucky. If you're still hand holding after that, THEN you've got problems.

Let me put it this way: My college-aged brother is a total dip shite. When my dad says "don't be such a dip shite," he doesn't listen. Mom? Doesn't listen. But when I approach him with that good ol brotherly piss and vinegar, he starts to get the picture if you know what i mean. In other words, it can't always be the coaches. Coaches don't drink with the players, coaches don't chase tail with the players. But Shawn Williams does. I don't know about you, but when I disappoint my brother or my friends, I feel a different sort of shame than when I disappoint my parents or coaches.

I hope you're right...

I don't think that UF is the #2 team in the country. They are far from a juggernaut.

I do think tho that UF plays harder, tougher, and smarter on both sides of the ball and special teams when compared to UGA.

I think we match up well with UF & can win IF we play as hard, tough, and smart on both sides of the ball as we're capable of, I just don't see it happening right now tho...

Hope I'm dead wrong...

Amen. We have been lacking this sort of "field" leadership all season.

it cant always come from the coaches. Hope this shows up this weekend

I think we found the answer to your question as to why we are having defensive woes this year.

"It's frustrating because I'm sitting here giving it all I've got and I feel like we've got some guys in a whole other different place."

-S. Williams

So it is a lack of effort.

CTG should be running the D until they puke up their small intestines.
