I just saw an article that lists him as a senior and wondered why he never got going. Just curious as UF has had plenty of superstars that never reached their potential for one reason or another. I always thought RS would be a dynamic player.

Too much talent... Couldn't find the right position to pigeon hole him in to.

we'd all like to know. He was a big time QB in HS, but supposedly he was told he wouldn't play QB by LSU and he was fine with it. Still, he never has found a place at WR or RB. With his speed he would do well (IMO) in a package in the old "wingback" position, but who knows.

His arm was not good enough to stay at QB. For some reason he is not that great at receiver. Great with the ball in his hands though.

One of the biggest mysteries in LSU history. I will say that I watched him practice @ QB his freshman year and it was clear that wasn't the place for him. He couldn't make all the throws and he really struggled to just make the easy ones. For whatever reason he just hasn't caught on @ WR.

He can't throw, nor can he catch.

So the coaches put him at QB and WR

If he can't make all the throws at QB and he's not a reliable receiver then clearly he was overrated. And since he's not big enough to be a lineman, there's really no place in football for a player like that.

He chose to move to WR to get quicker PT. i dont see how anyone could lookat Russel Sheppard and his build and think he could ever play QB in the SEC

He probably wouldve been great atOregon, but hes been a great leader for LSU dispite the lack of production
