QB wise or any position?

QB wise we have Jameil showers who has intense pocket presence and an arm like a howitzer. We also have Matt Joeckel who is a 6'5" freak and can run and gun adequately.

Why would they need a plan B? Will Manziel be suspended indefinetely for the illegal, bone crushing hits he will dish out to LSU and Bama LB's?

If you stop Manziel we don't have much of anything. If you knock him out of the game, then we have Showers who can hurt you. So if I were LSU I would stop Manziel but not knock his head off.

O line is solid. Receivers are solid. Running backs are solid.

Cause for concern is really just our defense that just moved this year from a 3-4 to a 4-3

have a very good offensive line and two pretty good receivers in ryan swope and mike evans. cmike has been a head scratcher this year so who knows about how he'll show up vs you guys. we have 3 players on defense (demontre moore, johnathan stewart, and sean porter) and everyone else is highly suspect

I realize that TAMU doesn't have the firepower that the Flagship does, but Johnny Football looks like the only game in town...stop him and you stop TAMU

Using our game versus the Aggs for a blueprint? Nice.

DeMontre Moore(8.5 sacks on the year, second in nation. First place has 9 and has played one more game)
Luke Joeckel(Will be a first team All-American tackle on almost every list)
Jake Matthews(Will be a second team All-American tacke on almost every list)
Sean Porter
Ryan Swope(if he isn't concussed)
Mike Evans
Christine Michael
Ben Malena
Trey Williams
Steven Jenkins

Question is, if your running back you just discovered last week struggles, what is your plan B?

Swope, Nwachukwu, and McNeal are seniors (WR).

Michael is a senior (RB)

Lamothe is a senior (TE)

Lewis is a senior (C)

Other than that, everyone else returns.

Ask Florida.

LSU has played 7 games and has had 5 different RBs lead the team in rushing. I think they would be OK.

The way the offense runs currently it is certainly the JFF show. Part of that though is the talent around him, esp the OL. The 2 Tackles are as good as any in the country and I wouldn't expect to get a lot of pressure on JFF unless you are blitzing and sometimes not even then. They know how to pass block and they are NFL guys. The run blocking has been suspect at times, esp in short yardage, but A&M has had great rushing numbers regardless (JFF leads the SEC in rushing and he is not the only threat).

CMike and Trey Williams were both 5 Star RB's that have skills. Against La Tech CMike had a 40 yard TD run and TW had a 50+ yard screen pass run. Ben Malena is actually getting most of the first team reps right now though and he is the best all around back. Solid runner with multiple long TD's (had a 60 yarder called back because of a BS hold against La Tech) but great hands and excellent blocker.

Receiver wise we have quite a bit and different styles of players. Swope set the A&M record for yardage and catches last year. He's an ideal slot receiver in the Wes Welker tradition mainly used as a zone buster. They like to throw to him over the middle and catching the ball on the run. Evans is the RS Freshman that has been the real surprise. He's leading the team in receptions and is becoming JFF's safety blanket. He was a former basketball player that is 6'5 and has huge hops and is strong as an ox with hands. He made the ridiculous catch against Ole Miss on 3rd and forever where he just jumped about a foot over the Ole Miss DB and yanked it away from him. Also had a 75 yard TD against La Tech. After those 2 you have several others that are solid receivers that can hurt you at any time in EZ (Nwachukwu) and Thomas Johnson (best WR in Texas last year and showing why). Those are all the primary threats that will get touches but there are also about 4 other receivers that may get a catch if you include the TE's.

If something happened to Manziel you still have Showers and Joekel who are both very capable with their own talents but the offense would look more traditional spread. Showers has the cannon and is more mobile. Joekel is bigger and just a solid game manager, just doesn't have the flashy tools that Manziel and Showers do. Everyone assumed Showers was going to win the job coming in to the Fall but Manziel just really turned the corner and the results are obvious.

As seen in the FL game, if you can shut down JFF, our offense pretty much grinds to a halt. I am assuming it is scheme, but we have shown no ability to establish a strong running game, even against lesser teams. Last year, with mostly the same O-Line and RBs, we had a more balanced attack and could run the ball pretty effectively. This year, our O-Line is just not able to open holes. Some blame it on the 2-point stance they are in for this offense.

Whatever it is, it is very annoying when you have 5* RBs that don't get many touches, and when they do, they are met at the line with a gaggle of DLs and LBs. Being able to chew the clock with a good ground game is pretty important in close games.
