Making my first gameday visit to CS for the LSU game

In case anyone missed my post in the introduction thread, I'm a new Aggies fan. Quick rundown of how that came to be:
Born & raised in Baton Rouge. Grandfather was a Bama fan, rest of family liked LSU. I choose wisely, have always despised LSU. Graduated from a school in LA & looking to go back to school. Visited A&M in August on my way to Dallas for the Bama/Michigan fame...left that weekend knowing A&M was where I wanted to enroll to get my 2nd bachelor's degree and that's the plan next for fall.
Now that that's out of the way, I have the unfortunate pleasure of driving to CS as the only Aggie fan among 4 LSU fans. Plan on getting in town early on Friday, checking out some things I didn't get to see my first time there, and going out that night. Unfortunately we have the 11:00 game so I won't get to enjoy the tailgate experience as long as I wanted to.
My friends have never been to CS and this will only be my second time there. We don't know anyone in town so we just plan on winging our tailgating as best we can b/c none of us are pros at this outside of the confines of Louisiana. Anyone have any got advice on where we should try and hang around/set up shop at? We're all in our 20's, so anything with a fun atmosphere is cool with us. Also, any rules we need to be aware of as far as drinking on campus?
Looking forward to being back in College Station and around by far the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting in the SEC. BTHO LSU!

Almost forgot, I'll probably be the only one in my group who will actually go into the game. I'd love to sit in the student section b/c I'm sure it'll be crazy, but as along as I'm around a majority of Aggie fans instead of LSU fans I'll be happy. If anyone has 1 extra ticket for sale or knows someone that does, let me know b/c I'm currently scouring the internet for one.

The visitor sections are absolutely horrible so try not to sit there. Usually singles are easier to find on gameday and it prob won't be hard to pick one up as long as you are wearing Maroon
For tailgating, I'd suggest Spence Park. It's just East of the stadium. Likely not real packed before the game bc of the time but after should be a decent crowd and food.
Lots to try around town. I'm sure many will chime in but my first real game, I'd try to hit up northgate and midnight yell at the very least. There are plenty of things worth doing and that you'll like more, but those are staples that should be experienced at least once.

You're a spy sent here by the bama board, aren't you!
Fess up!

My best friend had the tailgate of the week for the Florida game on Houston St. Hit that up.

Unfortunately, the mods won't let me change my screen name to something less Bama oriented. Should've thought of something better when I joined TD 6 years ago.

Yeah, I got out to Northgate last time I was there. I discovered pickle shots...my hangover reminded me of them the next day. Def will try & make it to Midnight Yell and of course, I'll be sporting the correct colors on gameday. I'd rather be caught dead than in any purple & gold clothing.

Nice, I'll try to do that. Thanks for the heads up

I suggest tailgating at Reed Arena. Much rowdier than Spence and we will be going hard from 5 am till gametime and for a long time afterwards.

What all did you see on your previous trip? Might make it easier to give you some suggestions of other things to check out.
One of my favorite things is to go on the Quad to see Step Off with the Corps. It's an hour and a half before the game starts. It's just a unique scene to see all the Corps guys forming up and to see the cannon. Careful though, that thing is ridiculously loud when it goes off and you are close by but very cool, it literally takes your breath away. Then the band forms up and marches by toward the stadium with the Corps in tow, it's always fun to see them playing that strong drum cadence as they march just a few feet away from you. Fires me up for gametime.
Spence Park is right next to the Quad as well so you can tailgate there before and after. I recommend getting in the stadium 30 minutes before start time as they have some great pregame videos both on the football team and A&M itself as well as the flyover of course.
If you haven't been to the Bonfire Memorial it's very powerful but sobering.

Well 2 of the guys who were supposed to go on this trip with us have backed out, so now it's just me & my buddy going. 2 less LSU fans I have to deal with though, I guess it's not too bad.
Took the campus tour, got the Northgate nightlife experience, got to go inside Kyle Field (my favorite part of the tour), checked out the Corps of Cadets Museum & briefly stopped at the Bonfire Memorial before we had to leave. We were only in CS for about 16 hrs so it wasn't as long as I wanted it to be. Making a return trip to the Bonfire Memorial b/c my friend wants to see it and I definitely want to visit the Bush Presidential Library on Friday since I didn't get to check it out last time.
Step Off is on my to-do list for Saturday. Since I'm interested in joining the Corps when I enroll next fall, I'm looking forward to finally getting to see it in person rather than watching Youtube videos.
30 minutes sounds good; at Bama you have to wait at least an hour but I forget A&M's student section is much larger. I'm excited, found a guy who cut me a deal on student tickets since it was my first game @ A&M, now I just need to learn the cheers or I'll feel out of place. I've heard pros/cons about going to Yell Practice; younger guys say stay out in Northgate if you're already there at midnight, but I figured I might as well get the whole experience and attend it. My friend is not your normal LSU fan. He's not a shite starter and is really just going to enjoy the game, he should be ok in the student section with me right?
This sounds like our kind of tailgate.
Few Questions:
Since it's just the 2 of us, how easy would it be to just join in with another group for tailgating? We've got plenty of beer and liquor, but since it's only 2 of us and it's early we probably won't bring any food with us since it's less we have to carry around.
Speaking of beer, any rules pertaining to not using bottles or cans? Ex: Ole Miss & their lame arse "solo cup" rule
Parking...where should we aim for and do we need a parking pass?
BTW, thanks for all the advice!

Come join us... don't worry about food, we got ya. Ask for Alan ... SE side of Reed by the softball field in the grass. You can spot us by the two beer pong tables that are Kyle Field and Reed Arenas playing surfaces.
I'll have on maroon and white striped seer sucker pants on.

You are the man, THIS is exactly why I've been telling everyone Aggies are honestly the nicest group of fans I've met in the SEC. I'll definitely be there, not rocking seersucker pants but will have a Maroon gingham shirt on with A&M trim on it...quite possibly my favorite shirt I've ever purchased for a game. If someone says Darren is looking for you, that's me.
I'm a big Shiner Bock fan but I figure everyone in CS loves that stuff & has it everywhere. However I do have an Alabama ice chest (hey, at least it's not LSU?) full of Abita beer & if y'all have room for it, it's fair game for everyone at the tailgate.

Another thing that is cool about Kyle is they let you on the field after the game and if you have a football you can throw it around or even kick Field Goals. Makes for some awesome pics as well. Kind of crazy down there though with so many people and footballs.

I might stop by if I have time pregame

BamaMan, you can find Ball Gravy's tailgate pretty easily...just look for the guy standing out yelling at the top of his lungs,... "Baaaaaallll Graaaaaavvvvyyyyy!"

If he hears a random Gig'em & Roll Tide yelled out in reply at 5 Am, he'll knowy drunk arse is coming.

Yes sir, will do. If anyone sees a guy with a red shirt & Crimson Tide hat on tonight out in Northgate, come say hey and have a drink with me.
