You know, the fumble that was recovered by Auburn deep in LSU territory? Before that fumble LSU was up 9-0 and had 120 yards of offense to Auburn's -5. Playing the "woulda, coulda, shoulda" game, had that fumble not happened, I do not believe that game is as close as it was. LSU had all the momentum on their side at that point and completely lost it after the fumble and touchdown for Auburn.

Let's play. If Coates would've made that catch on the first drive, we would've been up 7-0, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Agreed...one play potentially changed the game from blowout for LSU to nailbiter...LSU has problems, for sure, but to exclude them from the national title discussion after last night is foolhardy...

True. But a very sloppy game with mental mistakes and a team we're not use to seeing. If this continues, it's not going to be much fun for us. The penalties. The drops. Mett, hot and cold. Fumbles.

But if we're going to play the "what if" game...if auburn has better playcalling / better execution near the goal line they do not give up a safety - or - Does not drop a punt which leads to a LSU field goal
.. maybe the end result is different...

no doubt, you hate to sound like a "well what if" type of person but that game could have got out of hand fast

was it the dropped pass for a TD / uncalled PI on Auburn's first possession?

You played the best game of the year to date, and still lost. How does that make you feel. LSU played their worst and won. How does that make you feel.

The difference is, Auburn has been making those kinds of mistakes all year thus far. LSU's untimely turnovers were very uncharacteristic of them.

I always laugh when people try to look at it from one side of the game instead of both.

I don't recall a lot of dropped bombs this year.

But when one team has been making those mistakes all year and the other hasn't...

You catch my drift? LSU did not play their best game at all. Even then, despite the close score, I never felt nervous for LSU all night long. Auburn couldn't move the ball at all. It wasn't until mid-way through the fourth quarter that your offense finally reached the century mark in total yards.

But I do recall a bunch of turnovers, sacks, and other bad plays made by the Auburn offense. Such missed opportunities are par for the course for Auburn this year.

This post reminds me of the "if AU didn't have Cam" bullshite. Shut the frick up and quit finding excuses. If Coates catches the fricking ball, there is a good chance we walk out of that game with a W. But he didn't. And we lost. But it was still a great fricking game between two teams who left it all on the field. Which is all you can ask for.

We've played 4 real football teams. Not teams like North Texas.
