What happened on the sideline to draw the PF penalty?

Was at the game and no one around me saw what happened.

They never showed what happened on the TV broadcast. Saban wasn't pleased but he didn't completely lose it either (talking to the ref).

Was at the game, Saban and an assistant coach were standing about five yards onto the field for two straight plays

Yeah but that would just be a sideline warning. Not a PF.

i dont know either but that old fat gray haired official called 3 or 4 questionable ones on us i thought.

Don't know about the college rule but most HS games each team gets the sideline warning before the game starts, then the line judge spends the whole game moving the teams back. I would not want to be a line judge in any football game specially with CNS on the sideline.
