Question for UGA fans, how is Pres Adams viewed ?

I am curious what UGA fans think about Adams currently given the long ago issues (Dooley, J Herrick etc.) and the more recent past (AD fired, Richt treatment). I know the Pres of all our schools can have a +/- impact and while I view this guy as a total jerk (just IMO and not real informed I admit) I wonder how UGA fans who know the details feel. I like Richt and I guess Adams does too, but would your school be better off without Adams for the past 15 years? He seems like a total ego freak and think you could do better.

As a pompous arrogant bastard that everyone can't wait til the day he finally is gone from our beloved university

you would be hard pressed to find a single football enthusiast that likes him. Hell, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that likes him. He's a pompous, arrogant SOB that has an agenda and will not put his support behind anything that might stand in opposition of or that might rival that agenda (i.e. Dooley)

Adams has consistently been a big negative to UGA, and UGA football in particular, for at least the past decade
Nobody likes him

Adams has burned many bridges through the years and has always put himself first when Georgia was receiving accolades......he will not be missed......at all......

what was/is the issue with Dooley? And, I'm assuming this has to do with Daddy Dooley, not the one up in UT

I would add that faculty despise him almost as much as fans. The Franklin Arts and Sciences College faculty voted No Confidence in his leadership a few years back. That view is widely shared by faculty in other colleges.
Kind of rare when faculty and fans both despise a university prez. but that is Adams legacy.
Fortunately, the POS has already announced his retirement.

I don't really know why people hate him but I assume they're right so I guess I don't like him.

there has been a book written about it (Behind the Hedges)but it basically came down to dueling politics between Dooley as AD and Adams as President. Neither like one another for a list of reasons and Adams used his power as President to deny renewal of Dooley's AD contract, forcing him out.
ETA: Overall, Adams views athletics as nothing more than a muscular, sweaty billboard for the University. For example, at Munson's memorial service, he used Larry's fondness for the open West endzone as a platform for how important it is to keep the endzone open because it reminds all the fans how important academics are to UGA

confirmed what I thought, thanks, not sure how he has kept his job this long The Munson/end zone story is classic...UGA is a fine University, great campus, nice town etc., but I had seen from far away this clown acting like he was Head of Harvard, which I would say NONE of us want to be anyway...the SEC schools should be proud of the unversities because they can educate many types of students, not just rich liberal ones...
