At the risk of being Germans a little...

a question.

If you were to be given, find or buy a championship ring, whether SEC, super bowl,MLB, etc...would you wear it? Assume its yours by legitimate means, but you did not earn it on the field.

Two of my friends have Saints Super Bowl rings. One wears it, the other keeps his in a safety deposit box

I personally wouldn't wear something of that value unless it was for some type of ceremony honoring whatever the ring was for.

Why do you ask?

Were you (or someone you know) recently offered a SEC Championship ring?

I have 3 rings (one SEC Championship). Wore it when I first got it, now it sits on shelf on display in Man Cave. The other rings are K ring (letter winner) and Peach Bowl ring.

My neighbor works with the athletics at UK. Has a bunch of rings and just got the National Championship ring from basketball like me, he has them in a box for display.

Im not talking about being a staff member on a championship team. Secretaries will get rings when the franchise wins. Bus drivers do too. Im talking about perhaps buying a ring at a pawn shop type thing.

I wear my bowl pendant (basically the face of the ring as a necklace pendant) occasionally that I got as a trainer attending a bowl game. If we would've gotten a ring instead I would've gotten a case for it and displayed it instead.

Otherwise I wouldn't wear it if I didn't earn it.

I wouldn't wear it if I was the MVP of the BCSNCG. It's more of a trophy than anything.

No actually. I travel a lot and have had the occasion to sit by folks like Ray Guy (Oakland Raiders)who had super bowl rings on, as well as SEC guys like Jeremy Price, who was a UGA basketball player that won the SEC tournament in 2008. He sat by me on a business trip to Europe a week or so ago. He now plays BBall in France for the European league.

I have always thought I wouldnt wear one as that should be a priviledge of those who earned it. However then I see guys like the UGA players a couple of years ago who sold their rings. And Heath Evans, who for better reasons, is selling his Saints ring. I just thought about whether I would actually wear that ring or keep it for a keepsake if I found myself owning one.

My personal feeling is that I wouldnt cheapen the rings championship merit by wearing it as if I earned it.

The coolest thing I got was the K letter sweater and jacket. They are framed and hanging up in the man cave. Never worn them...they were sitting in my closet and wife said they would look cool in my room.

My dad has his old locker from Butts-Mehre and his G letter jacket. Thinking about cleaning up the locker and having the jacket framed for him as a gift for him during my wedding. He's my best man
