So I've just realized that there's not a lot of real Tailgating spots at Cowboys Stadium. (Thanks, JJ, by the way). But I have a parking pass for the blue 11 lot and apparently the perimeter spots only can be used for tailgating since they are adjacent to the grassy areas. My questions are: do any of you have any experience tailgating in this lot or any of the other blue or silver lots? If so, what was your experience and how early do you have to get to the lot to secure one of these coveted spots? My understanding is the lots open at noon.

Thanks in advance for any help--my car is already loaded with my tailgating gear and I'm gong to be pissed if there's nowhere to use it!

When we went to the Cotton Bowl at JerryWorld we had to just tailgait in the parking lot. It kind of sucked, but it was kind of cool too. That's actually how "real" tailgaiting is supposed to be done. We are really spoiled with our tailgaiting traditions in college football, especially in the South...

It's really a bad tailgating scene. Go inside the stadium early.

The tailgating sucks. You can only park in certain areas and can only tailgate on the grass.

I only say it's bad because CFB fans are used to not tailgating on giant parking lots

I'm in Blue Lot 11 too for the Bama-Michigan game. We will be there around 10 am to get a perimeter spot.

The tailgating isn't like it is on a college campus where you can sprawl out over the grassy areas, but it is what you make of it.

We're a bunch of belligerent drunks, so if you like that, you'll like us.

We had a bad experience trying to setup early on game day around 8:00 am. They told us the lot WOULD NOT open until 12. We bitched and moaned to no avail.... ending up moving our location to down the street in some lot half a mile away and had a blast.

Every year we've shown up around 8 am and parked on the curb of the lot and set our stuff up and left our car on the outer curb of Lot 11.

They didn't say shite to us.

Where are you going to be from 10 until noon when the lot opens?

For the Oregon game we met up with some Baton Rouge folk with a camper at a parking lot across the street from the stadium. We did not have to go on the grass but it was hot as hell so grass would of been much better. That parking lot was brutal.

We finally just headed to the stadium to cool off and wait for the game to start.

Yeh, and there is no shade anywhere unless you have a tent.

We had a big tent, but I could tell most tailgates just had the small tents and were prepared as if they would have all the LSU oaks on campus for shade.

Parked on the drive (curb) right next to our spot on the outside of the lot. SEt up the tent and stuff and start drinking until its time to drive in the lot and back up to our stuff.

Did this for all 3 Arky games, and the LSU Cotton Bowl.

We were there 4 hours before the lots opened for a couple of the Arky games and they never said anything.

We decided to go to one of the tailgate bashes, the UA Alumni one w entrance behind Fishbone Grill. We have a pass for lot 4. I have never been to Cowboys Stadium and know where NOTHING is, but my daughter and I can usually find our way to the party!

I'm going but we are not tailgating. It is going to be too damn hot out and don't want to deal lugging anything around.

Our plan is to go to Bamapalooza in uptown Dallas. There they have all you can drink and and eat WITH a round trip bus ride to the game for $60.

No need to pay for parking/ get all the alcohol that I can't afford.

So freaking excited....

It was hot as frick that day. A lot of us, both LSU and Oregon fans were chilling with our feet in the fountian.

They had the heisman campaign going on with the billy cannon signing so we were going to that stuff also...

It didn't seem like much of a tailgating place but I guess it's best to actually tailgate. Like in a parking space in the middle of a parking lot like they do on tv commercials...

We did some sight seeing and stuff. Everyone there isn't on the same page as far as tailgating goes. Too many people doing different shite to get a tailgate feel. It's a nice facility though.

Out of curiosity, how is tailgating for a Saints game?

With championship square it's pretty cool. Still doesn't feel like tailgating. Just a big party. To be honest it's always seemed too spread out for me. Ppl will tailgate in parking lots and under bridges and wherever they can set up.

Last year when we went, we went to Gameday first. Went back and packed two trucks, drove through for some food and parked the 2 trucks next to each other in perimeter spots no problem, probably about 12:00ish.

We were in Blue lot 11 as well.
