You definitely want Dick Burleson in the replay booth.

Ah, thought it was '07. But y'all were still ranked pretty high I think.

I don't know. Looked like a perfect form tackle to me.

I think we had lost to UGA, and UF at that point, so probably were. Though We would later lose to Bama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

07 was when we flipped the FG for a TD.

Refs will go so far as to actually tackling one of your players if they think you might upset a team that could play for the national title. Not joking.

Mark Curles has a special place in our heart.

As an Auburn fan, we've gotten our fair share of generous rulings/calls, but watch out for Penn Wagers, Tom Ritter (bug eyes), and Mark Curles. Steve Shaw used to be the good one, but he retired or something.

Thanks for the input. From what I have discovered the SEC appears to be weak with Referee's (the guys in the white hats) but members of the crew appear to be fairly good ie Brad Freeman, field judge, his father Steve Freeman, who is now in the NFL.

Referee's like Surles, Wagers seem to be pretty bad and the guy rated as the best is Tom Ritter. There seem to be nothing good mentioned about him.

I am just curious because the SEC Referee's seem to be "not the best" but the crew members seem to be pretty good. Don't they promote from within?

Strange.

Addendum: Football season needs to begin quickly. I can't believe I am down to researching football officials.

Well, reviewing a play doesn't matter in some cases. You also can be considered out of bounds even though you were tackled 2 yards away from the sideline. Also, if a lineman takes a cheapshot at you, the other team with get a 15 yard penalty. Kick a field goal but have a delay of game that's not called? It happens. Fumble the ball before breaking the plane and they give you a TD? That also happens. I'm on the phone so I'm not writing anymore.

SEC refs are terrible, and it's ashame that the best conference in college football suffers from poor officiating.

I didn't realize how awful the SEC refs were until LSU played in a bowl game and we had refs from another conference. There were no "WTF" moments, nothing that made you scratch your head wondering what the refs saw....which is the norm for SEC games..

What makes them so bad is that they consistently blow the most obvious of calls. CLM was quoted as saying that when he was at Ok.St. he would talk to the conference's head of officials twice a yr. Once in the spring to go over new rules for the upcoming season, and then in Jan/Feb to go over the refs from the previous season. He said that here in the SEC he is contacting the SEC office wkly & had stopped wasting his time over gray area calls, focusing on the obvious blown calls. Watch the bowl games & you can pick out the SEC refs easy. Welcome to the SEC.

So, the Aggies think ESPN hates them, and officials are out to get them.

You and LSU are like brothers.

I personally know a Big XII official, who will remain nameless, who is a open Horn fanatic. That's a fact - again, I don't know OF the guy, I know him. So it's not like we were imagining they were biased against us.

You mean the official that called the bullshite personal foul against us vs Texas last year that cost us the game? TexAgs outted him as a hardcore horn fan and he had to shut his Facebook down. Next time you see that POS, punch him in the face for me.

If you play Alabama then you want to hope and pray that Tom Ritter is not the Referee.
