Drug rehab for weed?

Maybe he was testing positive for other drugs.

I think it's the right move...straighten yourself out before you play again...

Yeah, no one goes to rehab for weed. He was either doing some real drugs or this is a PR move.

Or maybe it's not the weed itself but his behavior that warranted the check-in to rehab.

The only people that check into psychiatric hospitals for the treatment of alcoholism or drug addiction are people who can't stop drinking or doing drugs on their own, not people with "behavioral problems", unless the behavior is drug use.

Because weed isn't addictive right? If you were so addicted to a substance or behavior that you couldn't stop for 4 months so that you could make millions of dollars, you wouldn't consider yourself addicted to the point where you needed rehab?

Actually you'd be surprised, many folks go because things start to control their life, weed can be one of those things. Lots of things can affect people's daily lives. This is about a lifestyle change more than anything (hanging out with the RIGHT people and such).

If he was caught with very bad drugs he would have been booted from not only the team but the university.

I guess I would, I've know several family members and friends that went to rehab, and most smoked weed, but that isn't what got them there, it was either alcohol or drugs.

Semantics. He is in a psychiatric hospital for the treatment of drug addiction, not behaving inappropriately. He's not there for misbehaving in class.

I've had friends go to rehab before, whatever the control is anything can control someone's life. Weed/people Mathieu hung around with back home was ruining his. He's going to rehab for a much needed lifestyle change if he wants the future that he does for himself. Really as simple as that.

If he's going for serious drugs beyond weed he wouldn't ever be allowed back on the team nor the university even.

And a serious drug addiction would translate to the field/weight room. no way he's on hard stuff and was still performing at his level.

LSU students with the disease of addiction are expelled permanently even after seeking treatment and help if it's for drugs other than weed? That hardly seems fair, especially if it's not drugs that are the problem, but merely who one hangs around and poor behavior and other driving forces behind the drug use in the first place.

Yeah obviously this isn't that serious, it's not like he is in a psychiatric hospital for drug addiction, that is where pot smokers go.
