LSU is stacked on the line. It's really kind of unfair to have that much talent at one position.

I know Auburn has a great DE in Lemonier but how are the inside tackle guys?

Very good LINE, WISH mingo would have played LB. think he could in Pros. In a 3 4 he will have to.

I could almost guarantee you that State will be in this list at the end of the season.

Isn't the State line a young one? You sure about that statement?

Isn't the D-line their biggest concern? Losing Fletcher Cox cannot be easy.

You obviously haven't heard about their badass freshman DT's. Best DT class in the country so I hear, recruiting rankings be damned.

Coach Saban feels that the defensive line is the deepest unit on the roster. That's good enough for me. You'll never have a consensus on how to rank a 3-4 DL with a 4-3 DL in these types of pre-season rundowns.

Didn't Nick James fail to even complete basic conditions test at the beginning of Mississippi State's camp?

Nah man that can't be right. He and Quaysus are going to run a train on the offensive lines of the SEC for the next 3 years, possibly 4 so they can stay in that magical haven they call Starkvegas.

I'm not calling you out, but I have to chuckle when Mingo's position at the next level is often assumed to be OLB. Alabama recruiting followers were ridiculed for suggesting he would be better at LB, during his recruitment.

Not really...will start 2 rs SO, a JR, and SR...backed up by 3 SR, 1 rs SO, 1 tr SO, and then the 2 true fr studs figure to play (unknown) backup roles.

Still think it's overly optimistic to say we end up top 10 in the country here... but it will be our most talented full unit thusfar.

Cox was elite, no doubt, and will be sorely missed, but this is the first time we've had real depth on the DL since 99. Last year we were talented up front, and that kept us in games against Bama/LSU, but our lack of depth caught up with us in the 4th in both games. We should be a whole line change deeper this year...

Boyd actually graded out only 1 rd worse than Cox last season(3rd rd grade vs 2nd for Fletcher, but Fletcher was always more freakish in measurables) before returning to school. Our acchiles heel on the line last year was a lack of outside pass rush, which let Arky and Aub gash us. We still lack good depth in this role, but Autry is elite.

The MSU DL is going to be good again this year and heck they may be better than last year but they don't belong in the top 10 nationally.

We don't run a 4-3. What's your point? He is a perfect DE in our system. With Sam at the other end, we are stacked and I love it.

I don't either. Will have to prove it to me first. Until then, we're probably somewhere between #5 and #8 in the SEC, top 20ish in the country... We just have hope at the position because the late 90s proved that it is possible to build a dynasty-level DL @ State.

The major thing we lack is an elite(HS) outside pass rusher to spend multiple years in the program. That's why we hated missing on Channing Ward so badly. We keep getting excellent HS run stoppers at DE, but haven't gotten an elite rush end out of HS in years. Chris Jones may fit the bill with elite measurables(4.7 @ 6'5 255), but is extremely raw. Have done very well in finding JUCO talent to fill the role, but that's just such a crapshoot with them taking a few games to get up to speed and then having the option to leave early(becoming a more and more legitimate concern with Autry). Got to have Za'Darius Smith in this class and hope Autry stays for another year.
