HOG fans only: Who would be our fiercest rival? (if we had one)

Obvious answer is ourselves.
I think OU would be a white hot rivalry, alas Frank and Barry would never play each other.
We share more border with Oklahoma than any other state, and Norman is closer to Fayetteville than any other SEC campus. These are 2 flagship schools with a high # of T-shirt fans and a lot of state pride. We recruit Oklahoma pretty regularly, and they've stolen a good number of our high profile guys (Keith Jackson should never been allowed in the booth, he's horrible for one and horrible too)
If we can't get a2m to play in Dallas annually I think Okie Light would jump at the chance. OSU wouldn't be the same level of emotional fervor but it'd be a nice rivalry and it's a easy 3-3.5 hour drive from Fayetteville to Stilly, take 412 4 lanes the whole way.
MIZZOU = Mehzou. Just don't feel it. We're having some recruiting battles w/ em but there's no playing history. It's another rivalry that Broyles could've developed but let his personal politics interfere.
Tennessee - was at the cusp of really becoming a heated thing; then the SEC yanked us apart at the seams. Fulmer and Caldwell were doing really well recruiting the eastern side of Arkansas and we had to those big games against them with the upsets on both sides. I don't think we'll ever see Tenn. more than once every 7 years again.
Ole Miss - Houston Nutt sure made it a sore subject, but OM isn't competitive enough for it to become more than just a game against a neighboring state. They've got MSU and LSU to worry about, we're not their #1 target.
Kansas - nope.
old SWC foes - we've moved on, you don't have lunch with old gf's week.
Memphis - not relevant in anything, and when Calipari got there he ran from us.
aTm - The older fans hate them, they remember their pompous cheating asses. There's some bitterness but aTm will shoot for higher prey and attempt to knock us down a few pegs. They'll be what they've always been, more pain in the arse than actual threat or rival material.
LSU - games have been good and have had important stakes at risk. A forced rivalry is never good, these things need to grow organically and the elements are there, it's too bad LSU has an elitist mentality lately, definitely a new money attitude. It seems they can't enjoy the games as being good games at the end of the season for what they are, always some sort of excuse or stupid remarks follow.
I think OU would be the one with the most bloodletting.

I could see OU being a big rival. It's like I don't even care about them now but I still don't like em- that's potential right there.

I read the LSU part, and to be honest we really just don't care about Arkansas, honestly. Most of our fan-base doesn't come into contact with yours, may be a reason. Then again, we usually got a bigger fish to fry, and are elitist on top of that. Auburn/Bama/A&M/Florida/Ole Miss is more of a rivalry in 98% of our fans eyes. Even though Ole Miss has been trash of lately.

Before I opened the thread my first thought was "ourselves".
Football- idk.... OU would feel more forced than LSU did IMO.
I still think Mizzou. The potential is there for sure.

I think from the tread you will realize it is LSU if you like it or not.
AS much as they say they don't care, are better, ,their actions show otherwise.

I still think texas. Our program has grown so much, there's a lot of history to point to, and it'd be the kind of occ game that carried some real weight. But you're right about oklahoma too.

Yes. Texas would heat up FAST if that became an annual thing again.

No, we will not be your rival.

I really enjoy playing Tennessee. Wish we could play them yearly.
LSU is our rival now, whether anyone likes it or not. That's the thing, people act like they can "choose" who they are rivals with. That's not how it works, a rivalry results from hatred, fierce competition, familiarity by location and number of games played, and intriguing story lines. All of that fits the Arkansas-LSU series.

and I can totally understand that Cecil. I dont have any bad feelings against LSU mostly b/c I really don't interact with any IRL.
The Arkansas/Louisiana state line is more of a frontier, you don't really know you're in Lousiana until Shreveport or 30 minutes outside of Natchitoches.

Shouldn't you hate your rival and not root for them to win the rest of their games?
I just don't hate LSU. I like them.
A few idiot td posters don't factor into real life for me.
Meh. Bring back the horns and bring on Mizzou I say

You would be OU's 3rd biggest rival, Texas as well

You must be young. I'm not flaming you.
Us older fans know different. And there are MANY Texas fans that still hate us.

LSU has been a rival al beit a forced one but still a rival. If LSU wants out of the game so bad then if we were to get Texas on Thanksgiving day then I would trade that in a minute. I believe the Arkansas and Texas rivalry would be a strong game and determine championships.
