Best athletes in the south choose football.
I just can't imagine a scenario where a lebron type with his size and ability would be encouraged to play hoops.

More emphasis is put on college football in the sec, always has and always will be,with Kentucky being the lone exception of course.

Lebron did play football, he was all state WR. The problem is he was a once in a generation basketball player.

Someone as tall and athletic as Lebron? Why would he not play basketball? Nobody gives a shite about TE's...

For one, he did play football, and was probably good enough to play in college if he wanted to. Secondly, do you really think football isn't bigger than basketball in Ohio?

Basketball stars are more marketable, even though NFL/ Football is the more popular sport. There is more name recognition/face recognition of basketball stars because of less players, greater individual impact, and no face mask lol... If you want to be famous and make a lot of money(endorsements), basketball is the way to go.

I'd love it if Johnny Jones would turn things around and get us where we were with Dale

I believe it has something to do with the south having outdoor weather for like 11 months out of the year. Whereas the farther north you go, indoor sports make more sense.
Look at the schools that are good at baseball... all states with sunshine, rare to see northern schools in CWS.
