He could have put a few solid recruiting classes together and had them back on top.

He could have lost 150 pounds as well, but he showed no signs of being able to do either.

that doesn't mean UT didn't whip the rest of the conference's arse consistently.

Zero SEC titles in ten years=whipping the conference's arse?

It's funny how little kids like you get on here and spew that garbage and literally do not have a clue what you are talking about. He had some great years at Tenn, and a HELL of a lot better than anything you have seen in the past several years.

And if someone has a time machine they could use to go back and hire him in the mid 90's, you might have a point.

He struggled at the end

He didn't struggle, he let everything he and Johnny Majors worked for fall apart completely.

I guess that explains why Kiffin is the coach of one of the top teams in the country and Fulmer got passed over by Kansas in favor of Charlie the Hutt.

most Vol fans don't, trust me.

Few Vols fans love Kiffin. Even most of the ones defending him on here don't like the guy.

Still, you have to be in complete denial to not see the improvement from 2008 to 2009, or to think that Dooley is better than Kiffin.

I just noticed this part. Are you a native Ohioan or Ohioite, or Ohioer? Whatever you're called it makes sense if so.

Easy: Chavis & Cutcliffe made him look far better than he actually was.

Fulmer is the coach in waiting at Pig-U. After Bama and LSU beat that arse in a unkind way he will be shown off at the called presser at the new Captain of the flagship.

Because after he shut down the Alabama
program forever, his work was finished.

Or is there something else about him that keeps him from being hired by another school?

this. fulmers recruiting machine broke down at the end. didn't rodney garner(?)leaving for uga have a lot to do with that? ut had to turn to south carolina for recruits and spurrier began to win those battles so ut was kinda out on an island. kiffin expanded the recruiting field but took lotsa thugs; even more than fulmer. ut is a tough recruiting place. while they spend more money than any other sec school in recruiting they just don't have the base in tennessee that they need to be consistently successful.

Please. Other than Fulmer thinking he didn't need to work after '98 and Dooley being incompetent, Tennessee hasn't had trouble recruiting since Bill Battle.

He would have been a much better hire at Arkansas than John L Smith.

I doubt he would have agreed to be an interim coach.

Yup. Bryant somehow tricked us into hiring Battle and Saban fooled us into hiring Dooley.

Maybe I should be more concerned about Hart and Smart?

Didn't he publicly say he wanted the job? Hiring him with a 4 year contract and small buyout would be better than John L interim and a wasted recruiting class. It's like JLS said, every coach in America is an interim.

No. This way, Arkansas can hire after one here, instead of wasting 4 years. Tennessee should have hired an interim instead of Dooley.

Why hasn't he been hired for a job? Simple, no one wants a snitch around their program.

Some people still remember what he did to Johnny Majors.
