SEC QB rankings going into 2012

Looks, not too off.
1 Tyler Wilson - ArkansasThe only question surrounding Wilson’s ability is how far can he take Arkansas this year. Wilson has the best arm and offense in the SEC. He’s already being pinned as the NFL’s top QB for 2013. The Razorback offense will hum with greater efficiency with the 2010 SEC leading rusher Knile Davis returning.
And if there’s an arm to overcome the vaunted defenses that await on Arkansas’ schedule, as well as the sudden departure of head coach Bobby Petrino, it’s Tyler Wilson’s Heisman-capable rifle.
2 Aaron Murray - GeorgiaMurray has the opportunity to break multiple Georgia and SEC passing records after a productive first two seasons in Athens. Through 27 games, Murray has amassed an impressive 6,198 passing yards to go along with 59 touchdowns. For those scoring at home, that's an average of more than two touchdowns per Saturday.
When Murray is at his best, his athleticism and ability to throw on the run transforms Mark Richt's traditionally run-heavy offense into a pass-happy, high-scoring act. One area of concern for Murray is the spike in interceptions last season—notably those coming against top competition — but if he can cut down on his mistakes, the redshirt junior has the opportunity to challenge Tyler Wilson as the conference's top signal-caller in 2012.
3 AJ McCarron - AlabamaAJ McCarron is a prototypical Nick Saban quarterback. He doesn’t do anything flashy (unless you count the trash-talking tweets he exchanged with the Honey Badger this offseason), but he’s consistent, hits his targets, and runs Saban’s methodical offense efficiently. Oh, and he has a national title.
As for ability, McCarron is not the most physically talented quarterback in the SEC but his experience, ability to stay calm in the pocket and manage the football gives him an edge over every other quarterback in the conference.
4 Tyler Bray - TennesseeOne of the most polarizing figures in college football, Bray possesses the type of talent to shoot him right to the top of this list. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior has the prototypical size that NFL scouts covet, and a great arm to boot. The main question for Bray: Can he put it all together to lead the Volunteers back to a respectable place in the national picture?
Lost in the shuffle of throat-slitting gestures and rumblings of immaturity, Bray was en route to a dynamite season late year before a broken right thumb derailed a hefty portion of his season. However, in limited playing time, he threw for 1,983 yards and 17 touchdowns, while limiting his interceptions to six. The talent is there to be at the top of this list, but Bray will need to put together a complete season before he gets there.
5 Connor Shaw - South CarolinaConnor Shaw finally enters 2012 as the projected starter, something South Carolina fans have clamored for since Stephen Garcia’s third suspension. Shaw is extremely talented, winning eight of nine starts last season while completing over 65 percent of his passes.
Shaw is the kind of quarterback to thrive in Steve Spurrier’s offense. He’s accurate, has a strong arm, and gets out of the pocket to make plays. With Marcus Lattimore healthy in the backfield, this offense is SEC Championship worthy if it can avoid the seemingly annual South Carolina midseason swoon.
6 Zach Mettenberger - LSUThe 6-foot-5 Mettenberger is the true unknown commodity in the SEC quarterback race. His numbers — a career eight completions for 92 yards — say he belongs near the bottom with the rest of the unproven guys. His tangibles and scouting reports say he should be right alongside Tyler Wilson.
The Georgia-to-LSU transfer has even been mentioned among the top quarterback names in next year's NFL Draft. But the fact of the matter is that Mettenberger will be handed the keys to the national runner-up this season, and if he keys another championship run, the sky is the limit for his future. If he can't, well, we saw what Tiger fans ended up thinking about Jordan Jefferson.
7 James Franklin - MissouriTo put it simply, James Franklin is a handful. Franklin is a dual-threat quarterback who nearly finished his sophomore season with 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. He did finish the season with 36 touchdowns. Franklin’s impressive numbers ensure he’ll have Missouri school records in his sights all season long.
SEC fans will question Franklin’s ability and SEC defenses will put that straight to the test. Though Georgia’s secondary is rather thin with suspensions to key players, Missouri’s SEC opener against the Bulldogs’ rediscovered defense will answer plenty of questions about Franklin and his Tigers.
8 Jordan Rodgers - Vanderbilt
9 Clint Moseley/Kiehl Frazier - Auburn
10 Jeff Driskel/Jacoby Brissett - Florida
11 Tyler Russell - Mississippi State
12 Bo Wallace - Ole Miss
13 Jameill Showers - Texas A
14 Maxwell Smith - Kentucky

Bray and possibly Shaw should be above McCarron

If you think that Conner should be above Mccarron, then you are very, very dumb. Bray is good against shitty teams, and has great WRs to throw to.

McCarron gets too much credit for the championship. All he did was not frick things up as a first year starter. The defense/Richardson guided that team without ever asking very much from Aj..

That's why I said possibly
I haven't watched much of Shaw but he seemed to create plays more than McCarron when I did watch him

Giving this entire year to start Shaw could very well move into the top 3. He has a world of talent and a very good arm and can move in the pocket.

AJ was third in SEC qb stats last year. And very comparable to the top two.

Defense yes but what exactly did Richardson do in the first 3 quarters of that NC game? TR was great for us but McCarron made plays to get us in FG range and TR took over late but AJ and our D was the reason we dominated the NCG.

In 2011 Wilson, Connor, AJ, Murray and Bray finished in 144.8 to 148.4 raange, the separation was minimal. Tyler also threw quite a bit more so he should definitely get the edge going in. The keys I think will be:
Wilson getting some help from OL and pressure off due to Davis
Shaw not being in Garcia turmoil, Lattimore help, and a strong D to keep pressure off.
Murray's team around him performing like the recent recruiting classes indicate they should perform
AJ continuing his progress as a QB.
Bray - hard for me to tell. If they come out 'Air UT' and he throws well he may leave everyone behind.

True, I don't think the LSU staff expected the O gameplan from UA. Instead of a 9 - 3 game it became a 3 score game.

So a quarterback that "doesn't frick things up" is not as valuable as one that does (Murray, bray). Makes tons of sense. Neither have ever beaten a team with a pulse
