The Knoxville Police Department is investigating two incidents that occurred off campus.
The UT Police Department received a report on that Friday, June 8 at approximately 2:30 am, a male received minor injuries from a stabbing that occurred off campus near 17th Street and Highland Ave.
Two males, both believed to be homeless, were involved in an altercation in the area. One male stabbed the other during an altercation. The suspect fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim described the suspect as a white male, unknown age, 5'5", thin build with short blond hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
At approximately 3:20 am shots were fires near the Rocky Top Market at 2001 Cumberland Ave. During an altercation, a black male wearing a Chicago Bulls shirt fired shots and fled the area on foot.
The suspect has been known to drive a late 1990's model white Lincoln with tinted windows and a 'raised back end.' There were no victims in this incident.

The funny thing about all this is that there were orientation groups all this past week for incoming freshman. At orientation they urge all new students to sign up for UT alerts, this is probably the first thing the freshman and their parents get from UT.
