In a similar vein, to play "what if":

If former Ole Miss baskebtall player Sean Tuohy does not suggest a certain Michigan State football coach be contacted by then LSU AD Joe Dean and then LSU Chancellor Mark Emmert in December of 1999 (he was friends with said coach's agent) then the decade of the 2000's may have been totally different, college and NFL-wise.

If new LSU coach Bo Rein and pilot Louis Benscotter don't get killed in a freak plane crash in early 1980, the decade of the 1980's would also have been altered.

Damn now that I think about it if Saban never comes to LSU Drew Brees never comes to the Saints. Saban likely wouldn't have made it to Miami around that time. I'm enjoying this

Seems like that only helps to explain 2007, not the other 5 championships.

Pretty big house of "if" cards in that article.

I can play too. If Stoerner hadn't fumbled in '98, we would've won out and won the national championship. Recruiting would've been easier and would've eased the handicap of Houston Nutt game day coaching. We would've won two more crystal balls and would be the premier program in the SEC for the past decade plus.

That was fun.

He actually could have taken it further by saying Dave Wannstedt's departure led to nick Saban leaving LSU and eventually going to Bama.

Interesting idea to play around with for sure.

The really interesting angle is like another poster said, what if Saban would have went with Brees instead of Dante Culpepper? Saints and Tide fans, this is your worst nightmare.

For OM fans it's "what if our Lou Groza award-winning kicker would have made those 2 kicks?"

Well then we wouldnt have a neato lil co-champ banner in VHS. And then where would we be??

frick.
