Copying a post from one of our insiders on the Scout site.

Ricky Jacquez, a freshman pitcher who started several weekend games for the Longhorns has been dismissed from the team. Last weekend, after warming up and about to take the mound to start the Sunday game against Missouri in Columbia, he abruptly left the field and never returned. It was speculated that he had gotten sick.
Yeah, he got sick alright. Apparently, some the the Diamond Darling equivalents in Missouri introduced themselves to the young freshman and took him out partying the night before his start. They apparently were bragging via Twitter that they partied with the guy, got him stinking drunk for the sake of the Tiger baseball team...and it worked as Missouri eventually won Sunday's contest. It also helped A&M remain in a 2nd place tie with Texas.
Anyway, the freshman was dismissed from the team today. In addition, Augie's other starting freshman, Parker French who had a good outing against A&M, is now out for the season with an injury. This is on-top of losing their #1 pitcher and stud CF to injury prior to the start of the season.
This is the latest in a long list of alcohol-related incidents by Texas baseball players on road trips. Starting pitcher Sam Stafford was arrested at Kansas State a couple of years ago for underage drinking. J. Brent Cox and Justin Simmons were valuable arms that were suspended several years ago after found partying at the Big 12 Tournament.
Multi-year starting pitcher Cole Green was busted by MLB just one month after leaving Texas last September for an illegal substance and was suspended 50 games.
Of course, the man running the show received his DWI three years ago. It's hard for Augie to lay down the law with his players on substance violations when he did he same thing as a 65 year-old man.
Needless to say, the Longhorns will have a difficult time from here on out, playing 18-0 Baylor the weekend after next. It's looking more and more like they might miss the NCAA Tourney...which is a rarity.
