Richardson might have had a clue, but he did not know until the Commissioner read his name that he would be drafted third overall by the Browns, and he called it 'bigger than winning the national championship' at Alabama.

Yeah, I'd say getting that third overall pick money IS bigger to him personally than receiving a ring with diamonds on it.

I just remember Bama fans bashing Cam for his perceived slighting of Auburn after turning pro. Looks like Trent getting a head start.

He's always said that taking care of his little girls is his main goal. He worked really hard in school and said the thing that got him through it all was being able to provide for them... Especially after his injury in high school when he didn't know if he'd ever play again.

And I would agree. If he's not a complete and total dumbfrick, if he plays like 3 years in the league he'll be set the rest of his entire life.

I think every football player's dream is to be playing in the NFL. He, like most players have probably been looking forward to this day since they began playing pee-wee football as kids

Richardson's work ethic doesn't come from a narcissistic quest to win individual awards and accolades. It comes from a burning desire to escape what he and his family left behind. More than anything else, Richardson said he is determined that his two young daughters won't endure the same daily struggles he had while growing up with in a housing project in Pensacola, Fla. "I want them to grow up better than I grew up," Richardson said.

Maybe this article will give people a little bit of insight.

They bashed him because he said winning the Heisman meant more than the MNC.
