How have they never been powerhouse in the SEC (except in the lat 50's earlly 60's for OM)?

MS would be a powerhouse if the state only had one team. 2 SEC teams stretch the money/fans/recruits thin imho.

Ole Miss was thought of as a top program in the SEC until 1972 or so.
Mississippi State has had its moments with some good teams,usually one or two each decade where they would end some dreams of fellow SEC teams.
They have a hard time being consistant winning football programs. Nothing they don't already know and really nothing to dump on them about.
