Giving time for more of a search? Or hire full time now?

Full time now gives you almost a year to recruit.

I just don't think they would get a top head coach during this time of the season. It is best to go the interim route for now.

depends if we get a home run then hire them now.

Gruden for one.

god, what a terrible situation to be in.

pretty much any coach with good experience can come in and win 8-9 with this bunch. considering the circumstances, that would be fine with me.

recruiting is where we are fricked regardless.

Recruiting is going to get killed (insert 5.7 joke here) if we wait a year to hire a new coach. That's the only downside that I see.

Interim basis worked out fine, considering, our first season in the SEC, still beat the programs we should have, lost to several we should not have, just have to make a hire better than Ford...

I'd rather them choose the interim route than someone terrible. But IF they find a big name / great coach that is available now, I want them to jump on it. The timing of this just sucks.

The timing truly does suck dearly.

this team has been in this offense for 4 years now and has legit NFL talent at the QB, WR, TE and RB and O line. unless you can get a no brainer like gruden which isn't happening you go the intrem route. this team is too good to install a new system in after spring.

Smart thing would be to keep current staff, promote an interim, and ride out the season. Don't frick up like Alabama did and hire a Mike Shula then feel obligated to keep him for 4 years...

Interim for a year, then hope Pete Carroll can't cut it in Seattle?

Pretty far out there, and probably too much baggage though

This could be Taver's audition. I'd hope that none of the staff leave after the spring game.

Waiting til after the upcoming season could be tough. I don't want the new coach to only have a month til NSD to put a class together, and I don't want the assistants to slack off knowing there's a pretty good chance they'll be looking for a job after the regular season ends.

Maybe we hire a guy, yet guarantee the assistants that know the systems in place they keep their job til after the season, and the new coach is hands off for the most part and focuses on recruiting and providing leadership while giving the assistants autonomy to showcase themselves to prospective employers after the season when the new coach can bring his guys.

I just can't see any way that Paul Petrino stays. Not after the way this went down. He will show loyalty to his brother and resign imo.

I agree, but this requires Paul to stay and I don't see that happening. Without Paul or Bobby, we may as well have Tyler call his own plays and run the offensive practices.
