2. Bobby Petrino, Arkansas
Blow off the NFL Network’s piece about the 10 Coaches Who Belonged In College, and forget about the horrendous way Petrino bolted from the Atlanta Falcons; he is making Arkansas into a superpower. Considering what he did with Louisville – going 41-9 in four seasons and coming within a whisper of playing for the 2006 national championship, he’s a proven superstar of a college football head coach.

Not being able to win your own division makes you superstar coach?

If he's a superstar, yet yall still haven't won the division, what does that make yalls team?

2. Gary Pinkel, Missouri
From 1984 to 2002 Missouri had just two winning seasons. Pinkel took over the program in 2001 with his no-nonsense approach and did a great job of building up the talent level, but it took a little while with three losing seasons in his first four years. And then Mizzou became special with a three Big 12 North titles in four seasons, highlighted by a special 2007 with the puck on its stick in the conference title game for a chance to play in the BCS championship. The seven straight winning seasons under Pinkel has made him one of the best coaches in the program’s history, but things are about to get a whole bunch tougher in the SEC East. Turning 60 this year, there are no signs of slowing down as he takes the program to a whole other level. However, he’s going to have to ramp up the recruiting to compete keep the winning seasons rolling.
Hot Seat Status: He plead guilty to a DWI, and while he was disciplined and suspended for a game, there was never any serious thought of getting rid of him. Missouri isn’t in the SEC this year if Pinkel hadn’t turned the program into a power, and while last season might have been a bit of a disappointment, winning at least eight games a year is the norm. This is his program and Mizzou has a national profile now because of what he was

Outside of 07, I don't think you can call Mizzou a "power."

their best win that year was against an arkansas team that just fired their coach and put a shitty DC in charge of the whole team for the bowl game. also our backfield had checked out and was getting their NFL plans set.

Poor Pigs, they get the best coach they may have ever gotten in their history and he can't find a way to win his own conference much less division. Maybe he can win a BCS bowl one day though.

I prefer the 41-6 beatdown of Nebraska and the win over #2 Kansas who were the Orange Bowl champs that year. So the Cotton Bowl win was 3rd at best that year.

Yeah Mizzou got screwed out of an Orange Bowl appearance that season.

This. That could've been Kansas steamrolling the hogs in the Cotton Bowl.
