During our annual Super Bulldog Weekend, which consists of a home series baseball game, concerts, and the spring football game, we will be having Sugarland on stage in Davis Wade Stadium for the first ever on field concert at MSU during a spring game (i think in SEC also).

The stage will be in the endzone by the student section, and the spring game will be played on only 60 yards instead of 100. The point of this is concert is to attract young students who are looking at college options for the future to MSU, and it will all be nationally televised and will get our school and football program more exposure.

Our usual budget for Super Bulldog Weekend is 60,000 for concerts, This year, that will only cover the overhead cost, as we are spending over 600,000 on this and will be charging for the spring game tickets for the first time in years. Our Ath. Dept is allowing it for probably only this year, as we are going to get our field surface redone completely this summer so they aren't worried about this event messing up the field.

Thoughts by my fellow Grinders and any other fans? Good idea? Bad idea? I'm not sure what to think of this, but I feel it is a good idea and something new.

There have been a few "on field" concerts at Razorback Stadium, but generally only during Shareholder's Week.

Carrie Underwood, Jimmy Buffet, Shakira, I can't think of who all else.

I should of re worded it... I think it's the first ever on field concert during a spring game in the SEC, and also to be televised.

I'll be in the left field lounge. Doubt I make the spring game due to the concert.

Why would you want to have a concert going on while you are having a spring game???

Sounds like a good idea to me .Will definitely bring some excitement and make an event out of it.

Not sure why a 60yd field would attract more students but they are from Mississippi .Im joking but thats how your statement read.

It's going to go on after the game is played, but the stage has to be set up days before the game so we had to shorten the playing field to 60 yards. Both the game and concert will be televised.

I hate that the band is Sugarland, but at least it'll attract a lot of out of town girls for that weekend

Why even have the spring game then? That just seems like it will be lame from a football standpoint.

I thought of this, but the spring game is mainly just a show and to let fans see the team for next year. Never does it really show how good the team will be or anything.
