I have to say that Tennessee had a better program than Bama in the '90s. Only thing Bama has over them is more top 5 finishes and playing Spurrier and Florida much tougher than they did.

They were more consistent. But yeah, those pesky top 5's certainly doesn't help Bama does it.

You should be celebrating. That means that numbskull Vern Lundquist wont be doing the game. ESPN would show it as a night game, which it ought to be. Screw CBS.

So much agreement with this post.

But really though. I hope we get a CBS game or two next year, so our SEC Brothers will become more familiar with us earlier. I think I remember hearing CBS has the first rights to SEC Games before ESPN or ABC can touch them, but I dont completely know how the scheduling works yet.

Order of picking games:
1. CBS (Best production quality on TV)
2. ESPN Networks
3. SEC Network (De Facto ESPN)
4. Region Networks (Fox Sports South/Comcast/PPV)

CBS gets to have 2 primetime games I believe. And 2 doubleheaders.

Ok cool. We get the SEC Network up here in StL already so that wont be hard to get. Is there a plan to get rid of the PPVs though? That probably wont happen until we get a conference network but that will be great once that happens.

Don't forget that CBS gave ESPN two weeks with the first choice in exchange for ESPN agreeing to let bama/lsu move to primetime last year. I could definitely see ESPN putting our game with bama in primetime depending on what other games are slated for that day.

What happened this year when they moved LSU-Bama to primetime? I'm pretty sure they had to give ESPN first choice for some week next year.

Yeah I thoroughly enjoyed those 16 years of watching Florida skull frick Tennessee. Come on Vol fans, don't try and act like this was an even rivalry. If it weren't for the fun n' gun of Spurrier and the spread option by Urban, CBS don't give two shits about this match up... Ok, Tennessee was able to beat Florida during a couple rebuilding years....

The PPVs aren't too bad. It's only one per team per year.

They never divulged what the agreement was. They just said that ESPN would be getting some future considerations. I don't know if they conceded just one game to replace that one or more.

You guys should read the article in the OP as it actually has some details about what CBS and ESPN worked out.

Obviously, CBS will pass on UF/UT for Bama/Arky but look at the other details...

CBS will have UF/UGA, Bama/LSU (primetime) and LSU/Arky.

DH weekends will be 11/3 - 3:30 and 8:00 and likely 11/10 - noon and 3:30.

The concession carried over from last year is that ESPN will get first pick during two weekends (which ones?)...outside of the games listed above.

93 was 10-2-1 ...17-17 tie with Tenn. Palmer, who knew he was gonna run it on right end?

The only games so far this season etched in stone on CBS are Georgia-Florida in Jacksonville on Oct. 27, Alabama-LSU in Baton Rouge on Nov. 3 and LSU-Arkansas in Fayetteville on Nov. 23. The Alabama-LSU game is a rematch of last season's BCS championship game, which the Tide won 21-0, and it's the lone CBS prime-time telecast this year.

Last year, CBS showed Alabama-Florida in prime time but then worked out a deal with ESPN to show LSU's 9-6 overtime win in Tuscaloosa at night. By yielding a second evening slot to CBS last season, ESPN has two weekends this year in which it can pick a game before CBS.

CBS will have games at 3:30 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, and Aresco said the network's one noon-3:30 doubleheader likely will be the following Saturday. The Nov. 10 lineup contains Alabama-Texas A&M, Arkansas-South Carolina, Auburn-Georgia, LSU-Mississippi State, Vanderbilt-Ole Miss and Tennessee-Missouri.

Betting those are in the noon/330 double header. Hopefully Bama will get the late game.

93-01 has nothing to do with the claim I was refuting about Bama and Tenn in the 90's. It's a ten year period. Not 7 and 2 yrs in another decade.

93-01 was time span I brought up because it is the time period relevant to the Spurrier/Fulmer rivalry.

And if you'll look, my reply was to boxerrumble who said the 90's. Not 93-01.

I'm aware. I'm just saying the time span of 93-01 wasn't chosen to specifically choose the time span that made Tennessee look the best. I know Fulmer coached against Florida in 1992, but he wasn't actually the head coach so I don't really consider that as being part of the rivalry between the two.
