Add your reasons Mizzou is going to struggle this year and the near future

1- SEC defenses will obliterate their OL. Time and time again this has happened to non-SEC teams (Ohio State 2006 and many others). Their QB will be ineffective looking up at the sky.
2- Their backups aren't SEC material. Heck, most SEC teams backups have trouble.
3- ...

Mizzou - this is just reality and some of the reasons you will struggle. If you want to counter point then fine but some of you are too long winded. Try to be concise please.

ETA: Changed thread title because I found a rational Mizzou fan that I like.

The Aggies are going to be worse than Mizzou next year, but at least they will become the better team of the lower tier teams (UK,Vandy, both Miss schools, and of course Mizzou).

They're yankees

But let me add that with how terrible our offense might be, we could possibly lose to both tamu and mizzou next year

3: because your team is filled with rump riders?

Is that concise enough for the remedial readers among us? oops I used a multi-syllable word, sorry

3- Their lack of Defense will be the death nail for them.
4 - because their offense will struggle, their D will be even worse and very tired.

This is real stuff. It's not made up stuff.

Honestly, line play is my biggest concern. I think our starters will be fine, but the backups could be the problem, like you said. Having 5th year senior Elvis Fisher (from Florida) back will help the O-line.

BUT - I think we'll surprise some teams. We're not as bad as a lot of y'all seem to think.

The SEC is dominated by the guys in the trenches. This is going to be a lingering problem. The best athletes in the South usually end up on defense. I believe (rightly or wrongly as time will indeed tell) your offense is going to go through some really tough times.

The D in this league is unreal and unlike anything your guys have experienced. Thanks for the response that included some info. I really don't know anything about your individual players and other than DGB I can't name a single one right now.

I'm sure I'll learn a couple here and there soon enough.

#12 offense in the country was better than any in the SEC and will make your defenses look pedistrian by comparison. See anybody can take a stat to make a point.

By all means though, continue with your self deluded thinking that you will road grade us, if it makes you feel better.

#12 offense against Big 12 defenses. You can't ignore that. You think your Offense is going to shred SEC defenses? For real?

You think your OL has seen SEC type DL and LBs in the Big 12? I don't think so. You may disagree and I expect you to defend your team. No worries.

Fisher ruptured his patellar tendon before the 2011 season, and applied for medical hardship - just got the approval a week or so ago. Our O-line was young and pretty inexperienced in 2011, should be better this year and having him back helps.

Our QB, James Franklin, was a true soph in 2011. He should be much better his jr year. He's a true dual-threat, similar (if there is such a thing) to Tebow. Not the fastest, but very elusive.

Henry Josey was our best running back in 2011, went out with a really bad injury (torn ACL, MCL, meniscus and patellar tendon) in the texas game and unlikely to be back in 2012. He was averaging over 8 YPC when he went down, leading the conf and among top in the country. There is a stable of decent backs behind him, like Devion Moore and Marcus Hurphy, but we'll miss him big time. Franklin's versatility really helps here.

DGB gives us the star receiver we really haven't had since Jeremy Maclin and Danario Alexander. BUT, we have several good receivers to spread it around to, like TJ Moe, Marcus Lucas, LaDamien Washington and others. We'll miss Michael Egnew, who will be drafted, but Eric Waters should fill in well at the TE spot.

Sorry this was long winded, but that gives you a broad overview. We're a pretty balanced spread, averaging 244 yds rushing and 231 yds passing per game. Unlike some of the posters, here, I don't expect us to come in and light the world on fire. But I do think we'll be competitive. Planning to come to the Swamp for our game next year, and looking forward to it!

Agreed. I also agree that you will improve down the line. Nowhere did I say you would never be competitive. The SEC is just damn tough week in and week out. There are very few cake walk games and even those aren't always easy.

The line play will be key for you guys early on both sides of the ball. I just think in year one and maybe two you don't have the horses to get it done.

You'll need a couple of recruiting cycles selling the SEC under your belt first.

Not long winded because you didn't include the State of Mizzou history.

Thanks for the info. I've got a lot of learning to do.

You're now officially my favorite Mizzou poster... It doesn't take much, just provide objective analysis and actual information regarding team talent.

I actually think the Mizzou game is one of the more questionable games on our schedule... Early in the season we've shown a propensity for boneheadedness and poor preparation under Richt. Don't want to see us travel out to COMO and drop a game just because they took it lightly. I agree there will likely be trouble adjusting on the lines for Mizzou but if Franklin improves his dual-threat capabilities may help combat that on the offensive side of the ball. Not having Josey (most likely) is going to hurt... I hope he comes back mid-season but haven't seen any reports lately which is probably a bad sign. Franklin didn't seem to be a great passer from what I saw last season but not sure how much of that was due to lack of talent at the WR position.

No one outside the SEC thinks of this until the 3rd quarter when the SEC team is running all over their poorly conditioned D that has been out there all day...
