For non-Tigers: What if LSU goes 14-0 in 2012 and wins BCSNCG in Jan 2013?

Up front assumptions..1)Modern Day College Football is defined as the last 25 years. This is based on incorporation of 99.9% of the athletes being born in the time being considered, and since this would be ~ 23 years old, we'll round up to 25 years. By coincidence, this is probably a good timeframe to define "modern college football" in addition since that is the timeframe when the game became more diverse in terms of modern offenses also 2) this is based on IF, and it is recognized that that is anything but a given), LSU wins the BCSNCG in the 2012 season...
That would put LSU as the only school with 3 BCS crystal trophies, with the 3 occurring in a 10-year span for 30% of the national championships in a 10-year span, and 20% of the BCS crystal trophies in the 15-year span of the BCS era.
It would also mean that LSU was ranked #1 for almost 2 solid years, save the obvious end of the 2012 season where they finished #2.
Would everyone agree that IF this occurs, that at this time next year, that LSU should be deemed the best college football program in the best college football conference (SEC) in all of America? And by extension, and by the same basis, the best college football program in all of America in the modern era?
Or would you honestly claim Bama or some other school had a better claim to be the best of the SEC and nation in recent or "modern college football"? Bama has 2 BCS Crystal Trophies and has to go back 20 years (1992) to incorporate 3 national championships of any kind (of course, if Bama were to win in 2012, this would all be invalid, but that is not what this thread is all about..btw, the previous Bama natl championship was 1979 with Bear). Florida would have 2 crystal trophies and have to go back 16 years to 1996 with Spurrier to claim 3 natinal championships.
So, IF (with full recognition that this is anything but a guaranteed, albeit the oddsmakers most likely scenario at this time) this occurs, would everyone agree that LSU was the premier college football program in the modern college football era and the best in the recent years also?

False. That would put LSU on the same level as Florida and Bama.

Bama has 2 Crystal Trophies: 2009 and 2011 seasons.
Florida has 2 Crystal Trophies: 2006 and 2008 seasons.

Don't be dumb. Everyone thinks the trophy started in 1998. So that's what matters.

Well not exactly true. But true in the eyes of most Americans.

Show me any picture that shows 3 BCS Crystal Trophies for Bama or Florida. Non-photoshopped or dreamed-up, that is. This is not debatable, this is a fact. LSU, Florida and Bama each have 2.

Dude LSU hasn't won a NC since 07. A NC that included losses to two unranked teams. Lol @ losing to fricking Kentucky. Gtfo with your ifs.

WTF are you talking about? Bama's own site (which only needs to be updated for the recent BCS crystal trophy)

So, you just want to discount or forget about the first 75 years or so of LSU football? You embarrassed?

It's not rocket science, although for you it may be...

Not at all. LSU's history in the long run is not nearly as impressive as several other schools. No disputing that. I am just living in modern times, where a program actually has something other than geography and uniforms that are relevent to the discussion. 25 years is a good timeframe to discuss as modern and relevant, but we can go with 10 or 15 years if you want that to be even more relevant, and in that case, the result is the same.

I think it would be deserved if y'all do that. That is what we did after losing to Florida in 2009.

The crystal ball is the Coache's Trophy. It started in the late 80's. Bama won the championship in 92...they have 3 total

The objective answer to the question is yes. IF it happens. LSU would be the sole program with 3 BCS Trophies and more sustained success in the BCS era than any other program including Bama and UF. UF has Zook and now Muschamp in that span and Bama only has had Saban for 5 years. Only USC would have a challenge with their "three-pete" that they did not win, but LSU would edge them out.
How long that would last would be a completely valid topic also as Bama, UF, or USC could win a third soon.
