Bama has always been hated for being the best

Fans of other teams manufacture reasons why they hate Alabama and Alabama fans. They accuse the team and fans of doing all the same things their team and fans do and pretend that it’s unique to Alabama.
The hatred all comes from one place. It comes from Alabama winning. Alabama is hated because it wins, and its fans are hated because they support and revel in a team that wins.
The one year I happened to live in Louisiana was the year that LSU beat Alabama for the first time after 11 straight losses. After losing 11 straight, I’m sure I’d enjoy it too, but LSU fans are pretty insufferable in victory. At least in defeat they are quiet.
The “Rammer Jammer” cheer might not be good sportsmanship. It sure sounds good when it’s aimed at people who harass every opposing fan with taunts of “Tiger bait, Tiger bait.”

Most folks now days don't have a clue how much Alabama football did for the South and football in the South. You can thank Alabama's 1926 Rose Bowl team for the relevance you enjoy today.

FWIW...no one hates Bama for their success. I, as an Auburn fan, have a great deal of respect for the success for the school and coaches that have made it happen...people hate Bama because of all of the "Updyke" fans that are the face of your program.
And they are the face of Alabama...

You, as an Auburn fan, hate Alabama because we're Alabama and have always been "Big brother" in the relationship - even when we didn't deserve it. You will always be in our shadow - deservingly or not. You will always be known around the country (from the people that know where Auburn is) as the 2nd school in the state. That is why you hate Alabama. The root of your hatred for Alabama has absolutely nothing to do with Harvey Updyke.
The rest of the country hates us because we win - much the same way USC was hated by everyone in the mid 2000s.
