Was 1/9 the worst loss ever for LSU fans?

Obviously losing a BCSCG is very tough (no other SEC team has experienced that yet), but I think even more was at stake for this LSU team. LSU 2011 probably would have gone down as one of the greatest seasons a team has EVER had, but instead it goes down as tanking when it mattered most, not even the best team this year, made 11/5 look like an aberration, etc.

Is this the worst loss LSU has ever had?

That was a bad game, but I don't remember how much was at stake. That's the difference.

Yep. Anyone who says differently is lying. We'll recover though.

Not gonna lie...probably so. Not so much by the fact we lost, but just HOW we lost. I just want to know what the coaches were doing during bowl season - the gameplan was just awful, we didn't even "TRY" to win it. frick we ran the FB up the middle in the 4th quarter down by 2 scores. We attempted maybe two passes for longer then 12 yards. We gave up. Jefferson had three times more rushing attempts then Kenny Hilliard, who was our best RB going into the game.

If LSU had played like they did all season, gave Bama a good game but still lost, it would not be so bad.

That was dumb.

bullshite.

ETA and at this point I would probably say that the game on 1/9 only accounts for about half of the meltdown on the Rant.

True, I was just being nice. He laughed his arse off and then came to this conclusion: 1/9 the worst loss ever for LSU fans.

Part of the fun of winning is discussing the game and I wanted to get LSU fans' perspective on the historical ranking of this loss. We talked about this very issue (what was at stake for each team, coach) a lot before the game, so why shouldn't we talk about it after the game?

Current rant topics.

So the gameplan on jan 9th was

I hope what happened on January 9...

I think QB development will be a top priority now.

Does the BCS title game loss make the country forget

Straight up trade, we'll give you Richt for Miles. Who's in for that deal?

Losses in the Les Miles Era

LSU, LSU, LSU, LSU, LSU!!!!
(positive posts about negative posts)

Living in Alabama...has been a complete nightmare.

Legitimate Question about 2012 FB Season...

Teams that wish they had our problems

and last but not least

Just a few reminders for everyone about to jump off a building to reflect on...

and 3 of those are centrally focused on 1/9....so you are right I was wrong....less than a third of the rants concerns are on 1/9 still.

You mean the 13-0 SEC Champion in the National Title game ? Um,no. That was not the WORST LOSS LSU has ever had.

Call it whatever you want, I think it is a legit topic (it certainly was considered legit BEFORE the game). Given the nature of the LSU posts before the game, I figured most would be able to handle a continuation of the discussion of the game and its importance after the game.

Nice clarification el, fair assessment and question,
IMHO, it wasn't the WORST, but DEFINITELY, the most disappointing, befuddling, mysterious, and biggest letdown loss.

I would put in the WORST category:
1969 Ole Miss
1979 USC
1981 Tulane
1988 Miami
1993 Florida
1994 Auburn
2002 Arkansas
2004 Iowa
2006 Auburn

While I feel this is a quasi-flame attempt, and you're misstating or slanting things, I'll answer.

In terms of magnitude, quite possibly.

But we've lost to teams we should have easily beaten. I consider those losses worse, honestly.
