I am a senior in high school trying to decide between USM and Ole Miss. My sister goes to USM so I know most of what goes on down there. Anybody that has been or currently goes to Ole Miss want to sell me on why I should go to Ole Miss? My major will probably be pre physical therapy. I mostly want details about Oxford because I have never been.

3 reasons to choose Ole Miss: S-E-C

Now, be prepared to get your asses kicked all over the field. I've been to the campus, it's beautiful and the tailgating for football games is awesome. You better go buy some Polo shirts if you don't already own more than 50.

If you like partying a lot, while not dressing like a douche you'll love it.

If you can't back down to peer pressure, don't come because you'll end up going out every night and fail out of school.

Go to Ole Miss if there is no compelling reason to go to USM (particular degree, etc)

USM is a fine school, so no stink there. But, Ole Miss is a better choice if all things being equal otherwise

I know how to control myself. What all does Oxford have? Like bars, theatres, malls, etc.?

Unless you are going to major in polymer science, why would you go to Southern Miss? My youngest sister went there, but she played soccer. It's a nice town, and the night scene has improved, but it doesn't compare to Ole Miss.

Ole Miss was just named the most beautiful school in the nation. The way the analyzed that was they combined student beauty with campus beauty. Oxford's square is historic and is full of shops and restaurants only found in Oxford, no chains. High end retail and an amazing selection of restaurants and bars. Oxford is home to one the the south's greatest chefs, and he has four restaurants in town. There is roughly 30 bars on the square which gives it a surreal environment.

Ole Miss is top five in the nation in...
Campus beauty
Women
Tailgating
Partying

and is regarded as one of the top college towns in the nation. USM shouldn't even be considered unless you feel out of place with whiskey, beautiful women, and tucking in your shirt

Shouldn't you visit somewhere before you decide to go to school there?

And remember kids, when thinking about education, these are the most important factors.

Instead of relying on the opinions of internet posters, go visit Ole Miss and decide for yourself.

Ok OM is a much better school too. Common knowledge though. Also forgot to mention they have built two new dorms and are currently working on another. This is one area that state and southern have been better in the past

Not a real big town. It has a lot of bars, no mall, affordable living, great campus. The dorms could use some work. (I believe they are in the process of building some new dorms.) It is only an hour or so away from Memphis.

I would recommend Ole Miss, better women and bars. Good school for any type of law or medical degree.

Very preppy atmosphere, OM is huge in Greek life.

My advice is to go visit Oxford before making a decision, go out on the square, meet some people. Decide if you feel comfortable there. College is a huge decision and you need to make sure your comfortable with your surroundings and the general type of people you'll be associating with before you decide.
