Well they both come from the projects and battled through to make it in big time college ball. This is what's cool to see though. Two rivals getting to know each other outside of a game and media. They found more in common then not. Good for them.

Tyrann Mathieu didn't really "come from the projects", though.

I don't see the big deal, it isn't like TM7 was being malicious.

TR's but not by much. They will both go in the top 10 and the difference will be a couple million at best.

OK what was it 7th Parrish lost everything in flood and was a tough place to grow up, but not the projects? Is it still tough place to get out of like projects? Or was ESPN embellishing TM's upbringing for tv?

So his parents were affluent? Not a tough life as ESPN made it seem? I was going off their background piece on him.

He grew up in New Orleans East, which before the storm was a pretty solid middle class area, more black than white in demographics, though.

His adopted father was King of Zulu, which costs quite a bit of money to do.

I guess. What did they say? Must have been something with his adoption (his adopted father is really his uncle, but adopted him at like 4), or some sort of Katrina angle. He was raised pretty solidly middle class, though, probably even toward the upper-end of that, especially for New Orleans.

His parents you saw on ESPN are actually his aunt and uncle. His biological parents haven't been around since he was really young. And you do know it wasn't just poor, project people that flooded during Katrina right?

ESPN made it sound like he was straight from the projects, fwiw. And if I am not mistaken, they talked about it more than once.
