would have been afforded the same opportunity for a rematch had they lost the game @ Bama and gone on to finish their schedule in the fashion that they did?

I'm a LSU fan and I believe it would be LSU and Bama had LSU lost at Bama and all the other teams who lost, lost.

if the only thing different was a reverse of the 11/5 score we'd probably still be in the exact same place...
in fact it probably wouldn't be as close as its going to be between bama and osu

Yep, as long as all the other teams (Stanford, OS, OU, etc.) lost like they did in the current situation.
And Alabama fans and LSU fans we be making the exact opposite arguments.
LSU fans would want the rematch and feel they are better than OSU and Alabama fans would not want to play LSU again because they already beat them.
There would literally be no difference.

Regardless of who won the game on 11/5, the BCS Championship game would be the same. The only variation would be which team calls the opening toss. The respective jerseys would even be the same color.
