Every show on ESPN involves one or more talking head. They aren't paid to be neutral.

Whom do they favor?

These people are paid to give opinions. Everyone hates opinions they disagree with.

Whoever can create the most interest. This stuff is decided in production meetings, not in the hearts and minds of individual personalities.

Ding Ding Ding!!
ESPN is biased toward the profitable story line. It's undeniable that CFB seasons are not simply about the product on the field; They are also about selling some narrative or another. That's why Andrew Luck still gets so much Heisman love though he doesn't deserve it.
LSU and CLM have gotten plenty of love this year because the whole "they overcame so much" combined with our dominance and HB7's flair made for good programming.
The whole re-match thing will be compared to Ali vs. Frasier or Liston or whomever the frick, and it will bring the highest ratings in CFB history.

I lost all respect when they declared USC as the "second best team in 50 years" in 2005 leading up to the NC game. Looked fricking retarded when they lost

Absolutely.
ESPN isn't a news gathering organization (not that they are particularly interested in accuracy, either).
They are an advertising delivery medium. Their primary focus is to provide the greatest number of viewers to their paid clients.
If that involves manufacturing hype for a particular team or matchup, that's what they will do. It's their job.

I don't understand why most people haven't figured this out by now. Some of the talking heads (Holtz and Robert Smith in particular) let their blatant homerism bleed out on a regular basis, but for the most part it's about ratings, not reporting or analysis.

Kind of like MSNBC, yeah I remember those days.

A barner posed the question - in case you haven't figured it out yet, they are very dumb as a group and individually - hth.
