titled "Been there, done that"

I am on record here -- big time -- for a rematch. Click on my posts. So don't anyone go there. Posted this because a palpable groundswell of anti-SEC sentiment is building practically by the minute on social media, and if OSU simply beats OU tomorrow, the wave is going to crest, and crash hard on the final BCS standings (and on Bama).

A cross-sample of the sentiment:

quote:

Alabama playing in the title game is bonkers. A team that didn't even make its conference title game will be playing in the national title game? It's like Rick Perry withdrawing from the primaries and then going up against President Obama.

quote:

They're going to get a mulligan if we don't stop it. You have to figure, too, that, if Alabama had won, then LSU would only have one loss and the Tigers would get the redo. This is because, apparently, no conference can really play football in this country except the SEC, which invented the sport in 2006.

Who in Bama Nation ISN'T rooting -- and rooting HARD -- for OU tomorrow?

What's interesting is this is not anti-Bama sentiment, but anti-SEC. So the question is, will other SEC teams root for OK?

You're missing the whole everlovin point of the article, and this post. No one cares what SEC teams think/want/etc. It's a fairness issue. And in the next 36 hours, you're gonna see a HARD lobby from all over the place to keep Bama out of the BCSNCG, especially if OSU beats OU.

And Reilly backs it up with a logic that validates his argument. And that's what people all the hell over are latching on to. #rematch is about to trend big

Whatever you wanna call him is your entitled opinion. The fact is though that he's become the Pied Piper today for no rematch.

The national opinion is being shaped 2x, 10x, 100x by the minute echoing his sentiment. Building on it. Building a case to keep Bama out of the NCG.

Bama Nation, if you think you can just sit back and relax this weekend knowing you're ticket is punched for Nola, you've got another thing coming. If you're not sweating, you're a homer and/or naive.

The hack cites Bama not winning their conference or division as the main reason Bama shouldn't go, then suggests Stanford as an alternative.

What the frick else are we supposed to do? If there's a place I can picket, a grassroots movement, someone I could talk to, I would do it, but there isn't. I'm a fricking fan. I'm happy. I will watch the games and let everything sort itself out. Nothing I do will have any effect on the outcome.

So you're okay with not having to play Bama again because a bunch of tool bag writers changed their vote because the first LSU/Bama game wasn't aesthetically pleasing? Nevermind that Bama is definitely the number two team in the country.

at any idiot who thinks this is a "fairness issue". You would have to be a first class moron to think that a team that just loss to a 6-5 Iowa State team deserves to be in the NCG fairly. It this was the case the attention would be on undefeated Houston or VaTech that actually lost to half decent team.

I don't care what team wins, as long as LSU wins.

This is what happens when a flawed system is implemented, and it's been flawed since before I was born (ie: polls determining champions).

Until there's a playoff, then, well, it's going to keep happening. It's a popularity/political/shouting contest. SEC fans have a point. Non-SEC fans have a point. A playoff is sorely needed.

I'll just hope all the coaches with votes aren't twittering and tweeting about with Reillly.

I was laughing earlier at all the people commenting on the article that clearly didn't realize the e-mails to Reilly were fake.

I want to play bama but I have no problem taking on a new challenger. 9-6. There are 120 teams in FBS and there isnt enough time to play them all but if LSU plays Okie state they will have beaten the pac 12 big east and big 12 champions giving a true survey of the best the country has to offer coming up with a truly "national" champion. As for the definitely part I must have missed that part where Okie state played bama. Personally I think bama would destroy them BUT I thought Miami would smoke Ohio state. I thought Ohio state would beat florida. Thats why we play the game. We played A game on november 5th. Though personally I want a more hyped matchup, it bothers me none to take on a newcomer.

Again, I've been shouting from the mountaintops for a rematch for over a week now. The point of this was that this tide -- if you will -- of "knowingness" that Bama is already in the NCG is hardly known. And it stems from an arrogance on Bama Nation's part this week, per their sour grapes from the LSU loss. Bama Nation will be the last ones to recognize that this is only hurting their team's chances. They dis Rick Reilly, instead, when Rick Reilly reaches millions through media. How about just STFU and see? Best thing you can do. Seriously. Just STFU for now. I want to play Bama -- LSU "would be honored" per Les Miles to play Bama again. So just STFU!
