I think Dooley can get it going and consistently win 8-10 games per year. I don't see him winning any championships.

That being said, Tennessee cannot fire Dooley right now.

I am not trying to give the coaching staff a pass but this team is bad. There is very litte talent. There is even less experience.

There were only four players on the field today (Malik Jackson, Bray, DaRick Rogers, and Prentiss Waggner) who could make the two deep on LSU, Bama, Arky, or UGA. Two of those were playing with significant injuries.

There is only one senior who is a legitimate SEC starter in Malik Jackson.

There is only one junior who is a legitimate SEC starter in Waggner.

The cluster frick left by Fulmer, Kiffin, and Hamilton was easily a three to four year rebuilding process. I know that there are several examples of coaching turnover that had immediate results. But I can guarantee that those situations did not involve three straight losing seasons and 38 players being kicked off the team or transferring during that time.

The Oline coach (Hiestand) should be fired. A running backs coach needs to be hired.

IMO, Dooley should win 8-10 next year based upon the talent coming back. If not, he should be put on notice that his fourth year could be his last.

Go Big Orange!

Lol at you thinking we can win 10 games. Have you seen our o-line and running backs?

Honestly, when your QB has something like this on his back, do you think he can actually be a leader?

We cant fire him this year, but maybe next year. It is clear though that he is not going to get it done.

Good to know that UT fans don't expect Championships anymore.

2010: 6-7
2011: 5-7

Yeah, he really has things going in the right direction.

Yes. But the OOC games are NC State, Georgia State, Troy, and Akron which should all be wins. 4-4 in the SEC is 8 wins. If they could steal one win against Georgia, Fla, USC, Bama, that could get them to nine wins. A bowl win would be ten.

I am not going to bet my house on it but it is possible.

I am sticking with 8 wins at worst case and 10 at best case scenarios.

Passing game should be excellent and defense should be good. Running game likely to still suck along with special teams.

Somewhere between 8-5 and 10-3 sounds about right.

Anything less, and Dooley should be on notice.

If Tennessee wins 8 next year and Dooley is given another year, it would be evidence that Tennessee is giving up on the program.

I did not say that. I said that Dooley can't win a championship but he can't be fired right now.

Stop living in the past. Tennessee is awful. They will be for as long as dooley is there. The manning days aren't coming back.

You are correct about the awful part. On par with Vandy and UK right now.

Firing Dooley without giving him a fair chance to rebuild would be a big mistake. He really took over a tough situation but seems to be rebuilding the right way. Just an outsiders opinion.

Firing a solid coach in favor of more flashy hires was a really bad move for Ole Miss when the fired Cutcliffe IMO and I think Tenn would suffer a similar fate.

The other point is that no one worth a damn would take the job right now if Dooley were fired.

You're not in a rebuilding phase. You're way past that. Tennessee is a bad program right now. It's not some random down year.

That may be a stretch. I think they will have the third straight recruiting class in the top 15 this year and still have great facilities and good tradition. Once again, this is about lack of players and talent right now.

He can have next year only because this is a bad year to be looking for a coach with all the high profile jobs open. Next year he can GTFO, I am done with him.
