Port Allen isn't bad...and it's minutes from campus.

Heading down around noon today, staying on the North Shore.

It's easy getting on campus...much easier than the east side of town.

anywhere in Port Allen that I should make sure to eat at?

I'm coming with 2 buddies. We are staying with my cousin who lives off Highland in "Oak Hills Place" I believe. I can't frickin wait. There are a couple of Tiger fans from this board who will be at the tailgate.

I would suggest coming into Baton Rouge to eat. If you've never been to Port Allen, it is directly across the Mississippi River from Baton Rouge. LSU is only about 5 minutes away if there is no traffic (which there shouldn't be.)

As another poster says, cross the river to Baton Rouge to eat. Plenty of options.

Well, you don't have to eat there, but I would definately pick up some food to go from Bergeron's.
They have really great specialty meats and cajun food. When you walk in the smell of smoke will make you want to buy one of everything!

You could walk out of your hotel and catch a shuttle to LSU's campus if you wanted. You plan on doing any gambling?
Posted on 11/23/11 at 10:12 am to spslayto
funny thing is, i had no idea it was a casino until yesterday.
i'll be on the blackjack table until my friends pull me off.
that shuttle is 12 bucks and doesn't run until 12:00.

I'd be surprised if they weren't running earlier. That's way too late for a 1:30 kickoff.

Yep- got to get on campus earlier. Plenty of time to gamble after the game

Leave New Orleans early. Traffic when you get close to BR is going to be a bitch.

Head back toward Lafayette, take the Henderson/Cecilia exit and take a right. Approx. 1/2 mile on the right is Crawfish Town USA. Their hamburgers were awesome last time I ate there. They also have cajun food if that's what you are looking for...
