this is why we play the games. Who thought Dallas would win the nba championship when the playoffs kicked off? Who thought St. Louis would win the World Series in late August? Who thought Butler and UConn would duke it out for the NCAA title?

Who thought Oklahoma State would lose to Iowa State? Everyone was looking ahead to Bedlam.

My biggest issue with "voting" for a champion is that teams that are good on paper don't always win. That's the point of the "upset". The BCS is a much better system than the previous process to decide a champion in college football. An 8-team playoff would be even better.

If LSU wins out who do you think should play them in the BCSNCG? Bama or Oregon and why if both of those schools win out.

Shut up Pac-12, even if you get in you'll lose to whatever SEC team is there.

That's the spin. LSU will play the team ESPN pimps the most.

Hard to say.

If ASU hadn't lost to UCLA and Wazzu they would have been a top-15 team at 10-2 that we would have faced in the title game...this extra game against a top-15 team would have pushed us past Bama. As it stands an extra game against an unranked scrub probably does nothing for us.

If Penn State loses out and Ark loses to LSU, then Oregon's wins would be better...a 11-1 Stanford tops a 10-2 Arky, 9-3 USC is equivalent to a 9-3 Penn State or better than a 8-4 Penn State, and the rest of the schedule is comparable record wise.

I think Bama will have a smaller margin than last week over Oregon when the standings come out on Sunday, but as Penn State continues to lose, and if Arky loses, Oregon may have a shot at passing them in the final computer rankings. Then it's up to the human polls, and who the hell knows.

But as it were ND's 2 losses to Michigan and USF hurt us indirectly, and ASU's 2 losses to Wazzu and UCLA straight up punched us in the gut.

Personally I think we'd crush whatever team we'd play in the Rose Bowl this year.

Maybe it should be the Ducks vs Bama as a play-in game for the right to face LSU? Would you still say Oregon > Alabama?

Personally, I would be all for it.

In response to the Bama-Oregon play in. That would be fantastic. Too bad it won't happen because we dont have a damn playoff. It would happen under a +1 model...that would be fantastic, and it would work if you put the cotton bowl into the mix as the +1 BCS bowl.
