I know the Black Bears have always considered their rival to be LSU, but now with Mullen grinding at State and putting up Mississippi St. bill boards all over the state has that changed?

teams without real rivals often claim a better program is their real rival

for example MSU thinks Ole Miss is their rival, Ole Miss and Tulane think LSU is their rival, LSU thinks Alabama is their rival

Ole Miss fans will say LSU. LSU will not claim Ole Miss and say they have no distinguished rivalry with anyone. In reality, Ole Miss's rival is MSU. /thread

My head just exploded that you agree with a post that states MSU is not your rival and LSU is not your rival. Who is then??

Nothing has changed. State and Ole Miss are rivals, and there is no disputing that. Ole Miss and LSU used to be rivals, but then Ole Miss started the suck and LSU started to dominate. Older fans still consider LSU their true rival. Some younger people still push really hard for it to be some awesome rivalry, but deep down know that it isn't and that LSU doesn't give a shite about them, for the most part. All know that State is their rival but some choose to ignore it since LSU is the better program. Actually State and LSU are better programs at the moment. Ole Miss and LSU used to be but is still a second tier rivalry for ole miss and for LSU. LSU has a second tier rivalry with about five schools. Ole Miss is one of them.

I'm just trying to help you prove your point that State has had some coaches that have beaten Ole Miss consistently.

Since 1950:
Dan Mullen - 2-0 v. Ole Miss
Sly Croom - 2-3 v. Ole Miss
Jackie Sherrill - 7-6 v. Ole Miss
Rocky Felker - 1-4 v. Ole Miss
Emory Bellard - 2-5 v. Ole Miss
Bob Tyler - 3-3 v. Ole Miss (not counting the probation against you cause that's lame)
Charles Shira - 1-3-1 v. Ole Miss
Paul Davis - 1-3-1 v. Ole Miss
Wade Walker - 0-5-1 v. Ole Miss
Darrell Royal - 0-2 v. Ole Miss
Murray Warmath - 0-1-1 v. Ole Miss
Arthur Morton - 0-2 v. Ole Miss

Let's add that up and see what we get. Since 1950, Moo State is 19-34-4 versus Ole Miss. Really consistent

My girlfriend graduated from Ole Miss a few years back. She and most of her friends cheer against MSU. They don't seem to care much about seeing LSU lose. When LSU and MSU play, she cheers for LSU. This was true even before she began dating me. Obviously I can't speak for all Ole Miss fans, but among her friends there seems to be a lot more animosity towards MSU.

Not really. LSU basically just feels like the SECW is one big rivalry. Everybody wants to beat them in the worst way. At one time Ole Miss and Tulane were hated rivalries on both sides, however that passion cannot be sustained when the series become so one-sided.
