Has it really been 6 months

Exactly 6 months ago today, I was leaving my office on campus at UA, preparing to "ride out" yet another tornado that would surely pass to the extreme northern or southern part of Tuscaloosa County. Little did I know, that at 5:13 p.m., a monster would tear a path through my city, ripping apart homes and businesses, and leaving scars on her people that have yet to heal.
While it's going to be incredibly easy to get caught up in the emotion of the biggest football game of the year, and we certainly have all (well, most) earned the right to have a great time next weekend, let's all take just a minute and put everything into perspective.
Roll Tide.

We're still citizens of the same country when all is said and done, prayers are still sent from Tiger Country.

I heard an LSU fan making a tornado joke this past weekend when the conversation turned to the game on Nov. 5

Well, that would certainly be one way to get dropped pretty quick here.

How insensitive. God knows no LSU fan has ever heard a Katrina joke.

I was just in Cullman last weekend to go skydiving and there was still alot of damage that we drove through. I hadn't really grasped the magnitude of the power of those storms til I saw the damage in person, even 6 months later. Still praying for all those affected.

Have y'all heard about the huge gumbo fundraiser the day of the game? Some Louisiana chefs and some Alabama people will be making the world's largest pot of gumbo near the stadium.

I think your full of crap and just trying to get people stirred up. The fact that your trying to start stuff over something that serious deserves an arse beating in and of itself.

My company held fundraisers that ended up buying 11 travel trailers for the people of Websters Chapel. I made the trip up to help deliver and we cooked for the little town. Completely devastated. I doudbt anyone who lived through Katrina would joke about that.

T&P from Aggieland. I'm from central Texas and have seen some incredible devastation from tornadoes.

Really??? What was the joke then? I think your full of shite. Oh, let me guess...you don't want to proliferate the ignorance by telling the joke.

We had the F4 tornado miss us by less than 1/2 mile here in N. Alabama. The destruction here was like nothing I have ever seen. God Bless those who did not make it.

Every "village" has its idiot(s), no matter which school colors they claim. Thankfully, they aren't in the majority.

Nice post CapstoneGrad04.
That day still seems like a bad dream.
Prayers for those we lost and for those still hurting six months later.
