I know it will get a good list of candidates when Nutt is let go, but is it really a top job. Lately, it seems to be a coaching grave yard.

If they hire a coach worth a damn Ole Miss could be a top 15-20 program. They need to find a coach who is a great recruiter because there are big time recruits in Mississippi every year and Ole Miss should get the majority of them over State. Dip into Louisiana and other surrounding states for players and Ole Miss would be good to go.

Coach O could recruit but couldn't coach for shite and Nutt can coach but can't recruit for shite.

Everytime I go to Starkville, I just can't understand why any kid would want to go there...it really is in the middle of no where!

You can't ask if it still is, when it has never been.

Seeing as Tuberville bolted from OM for another SEC job two decades ago, I'd say it hasn't been a "top" job for a very long time.

Good, but not great. If a coach does GREAT there, they will always be cherrypicked by bigger programs. Oxford is just too hard to recruit top 5 classes to on a consistent basis IMO. They don't have the facilities and means to compete with LSU/Bama/Texas/UF etc.

And apparently nothing to do. I can't count the number of times I would run into State students that had drove up Highway 82 to Tuscaloosa to go to bars.

Baton Rouge people come to Lafayette. Lafayette people go up to BR. BR people go to New Orleans. It's pretty shitty to spend every weekend in the same city.

I'm just wondering why Tuscaloosa. I love The Strip and Downtown, but if you're going to go that far, why not Birmingham? And FWIW, this was usually during the Spring semester. Not much going on in Tuscaloosa at those times. I always found it odd.

Of course it is. SEC, loads of money, great fan support with all things considered, facilities are solid and improving, great recruiting area. Ole Miss is a great job.
