Im bored and sick of reading about the Bama/LSU game.
If Dooley does not pan out at UTk, do you think John Chavis would be a good HC?
I know, I know Dooley is awesome so flame away.

The real question is if Chavis is interested in being a Head Coach.
The answer would be no here (at this point at least).

My father has talked to chavis before and he got the impression that chavis likes being in his position. He doesn't want to be a head coach.

I don't know the man personally, but everything I see and hear about him indicates he doesn't seem to desire the HC high profile and all that goes with it. He seems like a guy that's cut out perfectly as a DC. But who knows?

I always thought that as well, but you know inside it pains him to see a program he loves is in WAC level hands. If UTk were to offer him 3 mill and an open check book for assistants I think he would def. consider it.

If y'all are after former coaches y'all might want to try and get Fulmer back. He won a Championship.

I'm not a Fulmer hater, I do think he got lazy in the end. I think if we still had Fulmer we would not be in the mess we are currently in.
I would not be excited if we did re-hire Fulmer but I would not but pissed either, he knows how to coach at a higher level than the Doolander.

Fulmer's current unemployment should make it pretty clear how desirable a coach he is right now.

I'm not so sure Fulmer tried for any jobs other than maybe the UT gig after the Kiffin debacle.
Your crazy if you don't think Fulmer could get a decent gig, the man could coach.

IMO, if Dooley does not work out for you, then the Vols need to go for a more exciting hire as HC than The Chief. And I don't just say this because I'm an LSU fan, and I don't want to see Chavis go anywhere. I'm being totally serious. The next head coach at Tennessee needs to be a big-time recruiter, or a name big-time recruits from around the country want to play for. They are not always one and the same. And I don't think Chavis is that kind of coach.
I think The Chief would do well as a head coach in a state with a good bit of in-state talent. Like Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida. But not in a state like Tennessee, where your success totally depends on recruiting out of state players. I know UT has had success in the past, but it seems to me that recruits are choosing to play closer to home more than before. Like within driving distance for their parents.
The tough thing for Tennessee is, unless they fire Dooley this year, they may be SOL for a quality coach like Leach, Sumlin, or Skip Holtz. As I think all three of those coaches will make moves after this season.
Hope for the Vol's sake that Dooley can turn things around.
