How much is an open container fine in Tuscaloosa?

Probably between 100-150 if I had to guess. But unless you're drinking out of a can or bottle walking down The Strip you're probably not going to get one of those unless you're doing some stupid shite to call attention to yourself. In that case, PI is what you need to be more concerned with IMO.
Just pour it in a Dixie cup, don't act a fool, and you shouldn't have any problems. There will be around 200k people in Tuscaloosa for a big game, just don't stick out and you won't have any trouble.

As Titus said, just don't act a fool. We tailgate in a number of different areas close to campus and actually talk to the cops while we have beers in our hand. I asked a cop about three years ago about open container and he told me as long as everyone was having fun on gameday and no problems were going on then no worries.

You have to try really hard to get an open container ticket in Tuscaloosa on game days. Like said above, pour it in a cup.

'tis another reason why I enjoy a nice autumn saturday on the Plains....you can double fist 'em all over campus if you so wish...then after that you can have a drink

I've never walked around T-town without a plastic cup full of something. A bottle of crown, a cooler of ice, and a couple 20 oz cokes and you're good for the day.

I do it all the time on gamedays. I walk around with a beer all over campus. Depending on the cop he may ask you to put it in a koozie. But like others have said, don't act like an idiot and it won't be a problem.

He should be fine. We aren't exactly known for drawing attention to ourselves, anyway.....
On second thought....

I saw this interesting tidbit on the Wiki page for open container laws.
Is this still true?

As of November, 2007, only one state (Mississippi) allows drivers to consume alcohol while driving

I don't think open container is enforced on gamedays. I've walked directly in front of numerous cops with a beer in my hand and they never looked at me twice.
