Other than Orson Charles, who will be competing for TOP TE in the SEC this year? * Denotes Pre-Season Mackey Candidates

*Vandy's Barden (34 rec, 425 yards, 3 TDs)

*Bama's Williams (2010 Back up - 8 rec, 100 yards, 1 TD)

*Auburn's Lutz (15 rec, 185 yards, 5 TDs)

LSU's Deangelo Peterson (16 rec, 198 yards, 0 TDs)

Arkansas' Gragg (Back up to 2010 Mackey Winner - 8 rec, 171 yards, 2 TDs)

Of those nominated, why is Bama's TE on this list?

As for Arkansas, I predict 35+ receptions for over 450 yards & 3+ TDs for Gragg. Did they think we were going to phase out the TE position?

I personally think Lutz is the best receiving TE in the SEC but I am not sure he will get to show that under our current system...

Charles is a beast and Gragg will be awesome. Both will have more opportunities.

I actually do think we will see less TE this year than last. Gragg is a converted WR and not as good a blocker as DJ Williams was, and Petrino has said he doesn't want to keep any of the big 4 WR's on the sideline too often.

I think we'll see a lot of 4-wide pistol formations.

Gragg will put up some numbers though, and who knows, maybe he has developed into a complete TE that we need to put on the field as much as DJ.

So basically,we gonna be slinging that thang all over the place.

Lutz only had 185 yards last year? Damn it seemed like he was always making the big play. I would have figured he would have had way more yards than that.

The TE reverse vs. bama was legit.

I think we'll still implement Petrino's "pass to set up the run" offense as long as our OT's are decent in pass blocking, which I think they will be.

When we get leads and start pounding the ball more, I predict we'll see freshman Andrew Peterson in there at TE. He's 6'6", 262 lbs - more like an extra OT than receiving TE like Gragg, although he does have the ability to be a passing threat.

One of JJ's best plays on offense last season.

Marcus green for state. Out all last year with an injury but was a solid TE

I could see Lutz being a bigger part of the offense this year. His hands are too good to only get him the ball a couple times a game.

He'll be playing in Kodi Burns' old position, a lot...

Because the last two starting TEs put up good numbers, and Mikey Williams has shown good hands. Had a great spring.

A fumble waiting to happen when he touches the ball.
