Post a 1st and 2nd ALL-sec list. The idea, like Steele, is to pick based on how you think THE YEAR WILL END.

Not based on stats from last year.

I figure, after all the hate on those lists, that we should see how the rant can do relative to Phil Steele.

Here's Mine:

1st Team

QB - Aaron Murray
RB - Trent Richardson
RB - Marcus Lattimore
WR - Greg Childs
WR - Alshon Jeffery
WR - Reuben Randle
TE - Orson Charles
OL - William Vlachos
OL - Bradley Sowell
OL - Josh Dworaczyk
OL - Jawaun James
OL - Xavier Nixon
KR - Brandon Boykin
PR - Joe Adams

DE - Devin Taylor
DE - Sam Montgomery
DT - Jaye Howard
DT - Fletcher Cox
LB - Jelani Jenkins
LB - Courtney Upshaw
LB - Jerry Franklin
LB - Danny Trevathan
CB - Casey Hayward
CB - Morris Claiborne
S - Mark Barron
S - Charles Mitchel
K - Blair Walsh
P - Drew Butler

2nd Team

QB - Chris Relf
RB - Knile Davis
RB - Tauren Poole
WR - Joe Adams
WR - Tavarres King
WR - Chad Bumphis
TE - Philip Lutzenkirchen
OL - Ben Jones
OL - Chance Warmack
OL - Cordy Glenn
OL - Barret Jones
OL - Bobby Massie
KR - Andre Debose
PR - Branden Smith

DE - Jake Bequette
DE - Kentrell Lockett
DT - Shariff Floyd
DT - Travian Robertson
LB - Shaq Wilson
LB - Jon Bostic
LB - Dont'a Hightower
LB - Cornelius Washington
CB - Dre Kirkpatric
CB - Tyrann Mathieu
S - Robert Lester
S - Winston Guy
K - Caleb Sturgis
P - Tyler Campbell

Man, that was difficult. I don't know how he did 4 teams.

Go.

Cordy Glenn is good enough to be 1st and 2nd team.

Then make your own list. That's the idea.

I agree on most of the list...here is mine:

1st Team

QB - Aaron Murray
RB - Trent Richardson
RB - Knile Davis
WR - Greg Childs
WR - Alshon Jeffery
WR - Reuben Randle (this one seriously depends on LSU's QB issues)
TE - Orson Charles
OL - William Vlachos
OL - Bradley Sowell
OL - Josh Dworaczyk
OL - Jawaun James
OL - Xavier Nixon
KR - Brandon Boykin
PR - Joe Adams

DE - Devin Taylor
DE - Sam Montgomery
DT - Jaye Howard
DT - Fletcher Cox
LB - Jelani Jenkins
LB - Courtney Upshaw
LB - Jerry Franklin
LB - Danny Trevathan
CB - Casey Hayward
CB - Morris Claiborne
S - Mark Barron
S - Charles Mitchel
K - Blair Walsh
P - Drew Butler

2nd Team

QB - Tyler Wilson
RB - Marcus Lattimore
RB - Spencer Ware
WR - Jarius Wright
WR - Tavarres King
WR - Chad Bumphis
TE - Philip Lutzenkirchen
OL - Ben Jones
OL - Chance Warmack
OL - Cordy Glenn
OL - Alvin Bailey
OL - Bobby Massie
KR - Dennis Johnson
PR - Branden Smith

DE - Jake Bequette
DE - Kentrell Lockett
DT - Shariff Floyd
DT - Travian Robertson
LB - Ryan Baker
LB - Jon Bostic
LB - Dont'a Hightower
LB - Cornelius Washington
CB - Dre Kirkpatric
CB - Tyrann Mathieu
S - Robert Lester
S - Winston Guy
K - Zach Hocker
P - Tyler Campbell

I left Hightower second team simply because I think he is a tweener at this level. At the next level he will be a stud at LB, but he is too slow to be a perfect college LB and too agile to be stuck at DE. He fits Bama's 3-4 nicely though.

These are pretty good. I wouldn't change too much about them. Hightower could definitely be moved to first team, but then again, he still hasn't been quite the same since the knee surgery, so we will see this season if he comes back to full form. I think Nosa Eguae for Auburn could get some consideration for 2nd team DE, but he has only played one season so understandably he would be more of a 3rd team guy right now. He has the talent, but hasn't put up the stats yet to warrant it.

Insert Vick Ballard for Spencer Ware.

I do agree that Murray is the best QB in the SEC right now- but I'm not sure he will have the type of season to be 1st team SEC due to the people around him.

+1

I dont get all of the Spencer Ware hype. Vick Ballard rushed for 1,000 yds last year and scored 20tds.

I like Tauren Poole as 2nd team all SEC. He ran for 100 yards against Bama behind one of the worst OL in the SEC. First guy to do that in years.

I think he is poised for a big big year.

Lsu has had 4 different 1000 yard rushers in the past 5 years. We return 4 ol starters. We are a running team. He is the starter. Not hard to figure out.

You also have Ford and Blue who will split the carries.

Have to admit, on some of the OL stuff, I looked at other sites and other pre season lists to get an idea of who was well thought of.

Barring injury, Ware will hit 1000 yds this year. And he is gonna throw a lot of 'wow' in there while doing it.

The conference is pretty loaded at RB this year. Richardson, Davis, Lattimore, Poole, Dyer, Ballard...

With 5 guys that have already put up great years, it's hard to include Spencer Ware having barely seen him play.

But I guess, with LSU's returning OL, that he could have a huge year and end up ALL SEC 1st or 2nd team. We'll see.

If you don't take past performance into account (i.e., 'stats from last year'), then you are going from educated guessing to just plain old guessing.

I know it sounds 'homer', and perhaps a little bit of it does creep in there - but 'past performance' and educated guessing makes me think that Knile Davis will end up 1st team.
