"The confetti from Auburn's BCS championship victory over Oregon had yet to be cleared when the nation's college football prognosticators (including SI.com's own Andy Staples) universally tapped Oklahoma as the preseason favorite for 2011. That narrative has continued unabated through the various updated offseason rankings.

Fellas ... are you nuts?

No disrespect to the Sooners, who return the bulk of last year's 12-2, Big 12 championship squad, but the best team in the country this fall will be the Alabama Crimson Tide. Frankly, it's a bit baffling that this isn't a more common sentiment."

SI.com

Gonna need a lot of lube for this one, it's a long article. Happy fapping.

Proven quarterback makes OU the easier preseason choice.

So you really think a redshirt sophomore quarterback is gonna lead you to a national title?

"It grossed me out just watching [the SEC and BCS title] games, knowing we had a 24-0 lead against Auburn," said Alabama running back Trent Richardson."We've got to man up to it, work hard, and say it's not going to happen again."

As opposed to the 10-3, 4th in the West team that lost their starting QB and RB?

You're probably right. I mean, if you think about it, the last time we started a new quarterback that was half as talented as these two it was disastrous.

You know college football writers have nothing to do when this comes out

Yes because history is always the best indicator of the future. It's a preseason poll, so right away it's horrible IMO. But if they're going to exist I'm going to pick the team with the superior quarterback, which is OU.

Or an 8-5 team that finished below .500 in the SEC that one time.

I'm pretty sarcastic myself, so I see what you are saying..but McElroy had more playing experience, he was a RS JUNIOR(yes, i think that extra year was vital in his development)

Just tell me, when was the last time a RS Soph. won a national title in his first year starting?

There's more to a football team than an offense.

Most teams that lose their #1 QB, HB, WR and DL are in the discussion to be the pre-season #1.

No, I think probably the best defense in the country will lead Bama to a national title if it were to happen.

All Bama needs from a redshirt sophomore QB is not to lose the game. With TR at RB and the OL, Bama shouldn't need the QB to win games for them.
