I'm appreciative of Bianco but I wonder if the team could get to Omaha by hiring Scott Berry from Southern Miss. What do you think?

I don't think Coach Berry would leave USM for Ole Miss JMHO.

I'm just curious. The list of candidates to fill the Tennessee job was posted in another thread and his name came up. Tennessee would have to come up with the money so why can't Ole Miss come up with the same or more?

Hell to the No. I wouldnt want to get rid of OM's coach for someone whose been at USM for one year. I'd wait at least three, probably four before hiring him. Lets see what he does first.

I'm pretty confident one of our first choices would be McDonald from Louisville. And after that we are a big enough program that we could go after a big conference proven coach from a medium tier program and bring him in. I'm not sure Berry fits that bill.

We could hire him away easily. Al doesnt know what he's talking about. His state homerism leaks over to anything that has to do with Hattiesburg

Yea, I suppose. But he has gotten that second win at the Super Regionals with one try. If it were solely up to me, I'd say no for now...but put his name on the Christmas card list.

Berry won C-USA this year. Louisville has had a really bad season in the weak Big East.

Scott Berry is bringing in a top 10 national recruiting class as well. If they don't end up going pro. He actualy signed the top 2 players in Missisippi in Mason Robbins and Connor Barron. Both will be drafted in the top 8 rounds of the MLB draft.

I am friends with a guy who knows Coach Berry well. He said he didn't think Coach Berry would take a SEC job when I asked him. He said that Coach Berry and his wife and family are happy at USM.

Golsen is projected as the #68 overall pick, so I'll go ahead and assume youre making up everything else as usual.

That's nice and all.....but the enormous pay raise he would get from Ole Miss would make them pretty happy as well.

No clue how much he gets paid.....but I'm sure it's no where near close to 600k a year.

Golsen is projected on pure potential and athleticism alone. I have seen him, as well as Robbins and Barron play and I would take Barron and Robbins. Both put up big numbers this year. One if the two will be MR Baseball.

You can't fake that level of stupid, Al. I assume you suffer from a head injury or mental handicap.

So you're saying Golsen is considered a better baseball prospect. Gotcha.

Prospect YES

Player NO

He's going pro from what I hear. I have a friend who works for Bus Cook and there have been talks between Golson and Cook.

You don't think colleges also recruit based off prospect?

I mean....they develop too you know?

The SEC baseball schools prefer more polished freshmen coming in as opposed to players with potential.

For example CT Bradford was one of the top HS players in Florida out of HS but wast a top MLB prospect. He was drafted but in the late rounds. He started every game this year for State.

A player like Golson on the other hand would have a hard time coming into the OM baseball program and immediately contribute.

I think that we're going to have a chance at Omaha with Bianco.
