It didn't occur to me until recently that both LSU and Clemson claim to play in "Death Valley". my question is who claimed the name first?

I thought LSU's used to be "Deaf" Valley and then it slowly quit being corrected and was changed to "Death" Valley?

Clemson coack Frank Howard placed a rock from Death Valley, CA back in the 1960's. LSU was called "Deaf Valley" for a while. I would say Clemson. But I heard of a different story when a A.D. from LSU went to Clemson and started called Memorial Stadium "The other Death Valley"

LSU - Tiger Stadium
Clemson - Memorial Stadium
Both nicknamed Death Valley
And Clemson was first

Wrong that is Marty Mule' that put that in a book and it is wrong.
LSU ac was called the Deaf Dome starting in the 1979 season.
LSU Tiger Stadium was called Death Valley by the 1964 seasom and maybe even back to the 1930's if Grantland Rice really did name it that.
You will not find 1 reference of Tiger Stadium being called Deaf Valley before 1988, but you will find reference to Tiger Stadium being called Death Valley all the way back to 1966 and that is in national papers.
But Clemson is not the first stadium called Death Valley, there is a school in the northeast that stadium got that nickname in the 1900's, long before LSU or Clemson.
