Can the Tide do for the city what Saints did for New Orleans?

Maybe championship number 14 (or 9 depending on who you ask) can uplift the devastated community like the Saints' title did the Katrina survivors?

I knew if I didn't mention BCS championship someone would confuse this to mean Tide winning the Super Bowl...

One of my favorite games of all time.

And OP, after reading some of Saban's quotes in that SI article, there won't be a shortage of motivation that's for sure.

I don't think it'd be the same. While I'm sure it would mean a great deal to the community, I don't think there's any way you can compare the magnitude.

It was beautiful. I knew it was on like a chicken bone when that first punt got blocked.

not comparing the magnitude of the events just the meaning of winning it all for the city of Tuscaloosa.

Please elaborate.

I'm not going to make this a pissing match, but there are a lot and I reiterate a lot more Bama fans than Saints fans.

I'm both and have been since I was 3 years old. Lived in the heart of both places in NOLA and Tuscaloosa.

The loudest game I have ever been too. I've been in much bigger venues but on that night, none of them could compare to the noise level in the Dome.

The tornados were not as devastating as Katrina
The whole city of New Orleans was pretty bad.
Tulane and other university students were displaced across country including athletics.

As close as it was to University of Alabama - the school came out okay. Birmingham, the major city was fine. The suburbs south of tuscaloosa were fine. Bama hosted a baseball series the week after.

In New Orleans, the Saints and Hornets were relocated

For the saints it was the first one for a franchise that was more known for wearing paper sacks than championships.

Alabama is used to winning. The media would play it up, but for the average Alabama fan they expect to win it all.
