Watching it now. I have been looking for something to watch. Love any of the classic football specials.

I was at that game, in the stands and on the sideline (Auburn band).
Met Joe Namath on the sideline right before the half. Helluva nice guy. Slightly inebriated, but he didn't try to kiss me.
The game itself obviously didn't end as I would have preferred, but definitely a game for which you can put a "historic game, I was there" notch in your belt.

I was there, too. Home for Thanksgiving and sat in the student section with some Alabama friends of mine from HS.Helluva game. Auburn led 17-14 going into the 4th. Then Linnie Patrick did his thing.
What a wasted talent he was.

Joey Jones almost gave that game away with the two fumbled punts. I believe he was a freshmen that year. After the 2nd one, Bear didn't even put anyone back to field them.

what I remember about that season is it was a foregone conclusion in Alabama fans' minds that Alabama was going to go unbeaten going into the 1981 season. Originally, the LSU game was to be the one to 'break the record'. But ABC moved that game up to Labor Day Saturday and then Georgia Tech and Southern Miss got in the way.
