Cliff's Notes:
His dad turned into a crackhead. Violent abuse against mom. They fled. Moved from TX to AR after an abusive episode. Started out living in a shelter. Kid has overcome a lot. His mother is a strong woman who did the right thing.
Dad is doing 25 years for attempted murder, I think.

The interview with the father was just awkward. I saw it on OTL, don't know if they include that part on rebroadcasts.
